Well there will be changes I think 50-50 Stotts will be back or not. If Jones opt-in I think he will be traded. Plus will pick what ever exception we have. Will CJ be gone only if olshey is not there I just believe as long olshey is there CJ will be there. Collins properly will sign qualifying for 2year contract with the 2nd year with a player option. Nurk contract will be quarentee but without any extension. Powell I think olshey will try to get him to opt-in on his contract but if he don't I think he he 70 percent chance someone will offer him something big and he will sign else where.
I disagree about letting Kanter go. Even if he's been a liability this series, banking on Nurk and Collins as our only rotational bigs would be reckless given their injury history. Even if Kanter isn't a playoff-rotation player, he's fantastic to have for the grind of the regular season and a major insurance policy for Jusuf and Z. He accepts his role and is a great teammate. Also, he's likely going to be an affordable contract.
One of the several problems Kanter shares with Melo is that he is a vet. If he's on the roster, most coaches will feel compelled to play them.... RoCo, Nurk, Collins, Harry will be fine. Besides, if CJ is traded, it'll most likely be for a big.
I agree. However, I think Kanter is just different. He's got a lot of self-awareness and he understands and accepts his role, whatever it may be. Even better, he'll do so with a smile on his face. I think that's why he's such a great teammate and great teams need players willing to sacrifice like that for the betterment of the team in the locker room.
I don't believe this is the case, but that's the excuse I expect people to use, only to realize it was never the main issue. Its nearly the same cycle with every coach being an "idiot", the next guy comes in, there's some excitment, we give him a pass for a couple years, then he becomes an idiot.
New GM, new coach, and the only guy I really care about coming back for sure is Dame. The rest of the roster is trade bait as far as I’m concerned.
Everyone should be on the table. Keep Powell if you can since you can pay him whatever. It would be nice to keep Nas but not required.
I wouldn’t mind giving Ainge a shot at GM. David Vanterpool deserves a shot as head coach. I’d sure give him serious consideration.
The next week to 10 days will be very telling on what happens with the franchise and the offseason even more...... 1) Will Dame go to Olshey or Jody Allen and say please trade me or give the team a ultimatum of do something bold or trade me type thing 2) Will Stotts have a job ---- I respect Stotts in the sense i think he is a good coach when your looking to rebuild but he has not shown he can do much past that and after 9 years its time to move on. 3) Will NeO have a job -- I am more mixed on him but like Stotts i think he has done as much as he could and been average at best so again - -Time to move on 4) CJ and Nurk will either be on the roster when next season starts cause CJ for obvious reasons but Nurk is more interesting. i like Nurk but since that nasty injury he does not seem as aggressive to score and take it to the rim AKA play like a center My solutions are these --- Fire Neo and Stotts Bring in Coach K as President of Basketball operations or bring him in as a advisor Find a rising name in the GM type area and hire him Hire either Chauncey Billups or V-pool as HC Then bring in a retread HC to help them be a HC This would be a good start
My fear is that we will go full OKC. Decide we can't put enough talent around Dame to compete during his prime, so we just gather draft picks and hope lightning strikes.
You'll get your wish. Whether or not we improve at the coaching position is another question. It's not a sought-after job.
Nurkic just said he doesn’t want to throw anybody under the bus. says he doesn’t know what the future holds and isn’t sure if he’ll be back yikes
How can you say it's not a sought after job IF Dame stays it will be so that is a silly statement by you Maxi
