What's hilarious is that everyone bitches about how old Biden is. Trump will be just as old as Biden when he started this term if he were to be elected in 2024. But, thats a-ok for Trumpies if its Donny. But not any democrats. No old people. We need someone that is 40-60.
Yes I believe there should be an age limit. Joes going through the motions like anyone could if you'd been on the job as long as he. I know, been there. I retired when I knew I didnt have the grit and drive I did when younger in position. I could have easily hung on, gone through the motions/skated as I knew the industry well and was secure in my position.
There should be an age limit for presidents, congresspeeps, and judges. I personally would set the limit at 70. But exceptions should be allowed, if the person can prove rigorously that s/he's more 'there' than peers half his/her age. Mental acuity tests, physical fitness, public speaking, writing, every test of every sort that has ever been devised. It should be rare to successfully qualify for an exception. barfo
I'm not even sure what you mean when you say our political system is corrupt. It's an imperfect system, designed by people who couldn't fully imagine what might happen 200+ years later. It's a pile of antique compromises held together with rusty wire and dried-out masking tape. But corrupt? There are some people in the system that are corrupt, sure. I don't think the system itself is corrupt per se, it's just poorly designed, and naturally humans are going to take advantage of its weaknesses. That's the kind of thing humans do. A couple of Churchill quotes: "Indeed it has been said that democracy is the worst form of Government except for all those other forms that have been tried from time to time.…" Obviously ours isn't really a democracy, so it's one of those other forms. "The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter." The root problem in my view is not the system being corrupt, it's the voters and their "I don't care enough to pay attention" attitudes. barfo
One of the biggest problems we have without question is our vice-grip on dumb shit written forever ago. It’s all outdated. Let’s start with the Bible.
cor·rupt /kəˈrəpt/ 1. having or showing a willingness to act dishonestly in return for money or personal gain Our system is set up to encourage this behavior. We call it lobbying. And it has replaced official, non-partisan divisions which politicians used to be able to meet with to seek expert advice from.
