Then they need to step up and prove it. Gotta wonder how many voted for Trump, not just once but twice. Unfortunately the vast number of Republicans I am acquainted with (admittedly...and thankfully few) are some of the most selfish, me first individuals I have ever met. They stand for small government yet act like the world owes them a living. Consistency is not their strong suit. It’s fuck everybody else until they need something. Maybe I need to get out more.....but it is what it is and I stand by my opinion. “Christianity” is subjective....

My point is that these kinds of sweeping generalizations about any group is dangerous.

Portland is largely Democrat. In the Presidential election, 1,340,383 voted for Biden in Oregon and nearly half of those were in the metro area. 365,000 voted for Biden in Multnomah county in this last election which was about 80% of the vote in that county. Another 200k voted for him in Washington County which was about 65%. So when you see someone being a jackass on the road, or cutting in line at the supermarket, or hoarding toilet paper, at least in Portland, it's a pretty damn good chance it's a Democrat.

I'm hanging onto my sweeping generalizations about Proud Boys, Nazis or any large group that has intentions to harm Americans to promote their agenda....and now after the riot in DC I'm hanging onto my sweeping generalizations about the leadership of the GOP......after what transpired that political party has destroyed any semblance of truth, honor and trust......to the GOP members that did stand up for democracy....many are leaving that party now....some generalizations need to apply to dangerous movements like the insurrection. There comes a time when handing out reasonable doubt cards to people for bad behavior has to stop....and personally I'll cite another sweeping generalization...rioters in Portland were more than likely not registered Democrats.....my guess is most didn't even bother to vote but like being in a street gang and breaking shit...those arsonists were not organized in Portland...they were random. They should be locked up for breaking shit .....no double standard...break the law, pay the price...they do not represent dviss, Dame and all the good folks marching for racial equality at all.....those folks are to be commended for being proactive and standing up...the NBA supports the BLM movement...even made jerseys and courtside slogans about it...I take pride that the Blazers organization came out in support of BLM...along with the rest of the league....I agree with them...white privilege needs to be held accountable.

I think you may need to get out more. :)

ive lived in Co, alaska, oregon, washington and ny for extended time. Ive never met more selfish people on average than oregon.

This state is a democratic state imo.

I don't think you have to make generalizations about the proud boys or the Nazis. They make their platform very clear. There's nothing to really generalize.

But when we start generalizing Republicans, and not even registered Republicans, but just Republicans in general, that's a very wide net to cast. While if you live in Portland, there really aren't very many people who identify as Republicans or Conservatives, and the numbers back that up. So if you run into an asshole in Portland, there's a really good chance they're a registered Democrat or they identify as a Democrat.

I'm just going to say, maybe you need to get out more.....Portland is deep blue....most of rural oregon is actually red....when a windstorm dropped trees on my neighbors house years ago we all showed up with chainsaws to help.....when someone got robbed we all started a neighborhood watch.....every crisis Oregonians showed up to help....I distributed food to seniors as did my son with the Gleaners program....the local library exist because of retired folks volunteering to run programs for free...the local cops have weekly meeting to air concerns of the locals......it's not Hatfields and McCoys in my Oregon..nobody talks politics much when we help each other...it is more divisive in the OT section here though

I thought I made that point clear when I said they are very open about their platform?

sure...which is why I made myself clear about why I generalize them.....the GOP under MAGA was very open about it's platform too.....to the country's detriment

Yeah, it was pretty much obligatory on my part as he's been pining to be my life coach for some time now. Good grammar is always a good show.

Whatever goes in a trash can is public property.

I disagree....stolen goods or hidden drug stashes are not public property!

True, I'm talking about private property that is discarded. This would mean rightful private property.
