If you trade LMA,then you better get back someone just as good. Plain and simple. You can't go in with the reasoning that the sum of 2 players or three players is a fair deal for one player. One of those players has to have at least the potential to be as good as LMA. I think history has shown whoever ends up with the best player in the trade, benefits in the long run. Because finding non all star players can be found a lot easier then getting an all star type player. And although Asik, Jones and Delfino are all good players, none of them will be as good as LMA. Not saying it would be a horrible trade, just saying that eventually we will be worse off because of it.
I agree. (Edit: With Pinwheel) That's why teams stockpile players like Asik, Jones and Delfino then try to trade them for one better player.
Not to be a boob, but we actually didn't draft him at #2, we drafted Thomas at #4 and traded for LA, but aside from that, look at the total history. Oden, Bowie, Thompson, Martin..... They got Wicks and Walton back in the 70's, which was good. But since, then it's been the curse of Big Red.
Glad to see many people are catching on to my trade LA for a center idea. It makes a lot of sense if Olshey could pull it off. I'd target Noah or Hibbert. I really don't think this team would miss LA much. We have enough shooters, we need interior defense.
I think we'd miss LA a lot. He opens it up for other players. He is just not appreciated by a lot of fans that would once he's gone. Of course that doesn't mean no way trade him, but we would have to really get a good player(s) back.
See I disagree with you. I think Aldridge is an above average defender; and a very good one on one defender. We were a defensive team when we had pryzbilla as our anchor. He's not a great help defender though. There is something special when you don't have to double with Aldridge. He's fine defending his man, by altering or blocking his shot.
-Steve Blake makes 4M a year (signed a 16M/4 year in 2010) -new CBA (which is driving salaries down) agreed on in 2011 -the league has many examples of guys who produce little compared to their contract and the reverse is true too. Because there are some players who are overpaid isn't a good reason for a team to do the same STOMP
