Everyone talks about it like it's a terrible thing, but I liked the homerism of Mike and Mike. If I'm watching a Blazers broadcast, I want it to be as though I was listening to fellow fans chopping up the game. I also like the fact that I can tune in to Wheels during a game and know whether we're winning or getting blown out by the tone of his voice.
I liked them very much, think they were among the best broadcasters in the league. Always into the game, enthusiastic, very homeristic but usually not biased. Real Blazers fans, especially Barrett (I know Rice is actualy from Detroit), very knowledgable about basketball and mostly just a fun couple of guys to watch Blazer games with. They would be missed
Detroit, Schmeetroit. Rice is definitely a Blazers fan. I'm sure he's spent more of his life in Portland than anywhere else.
Thats by far my favorite rice moment. He bad some good ones, but to get tossed by a ref, that took true emotion.
Yes. I'm sure Mike has lots of beans he could spill. Plus he's funny and knowledgeable. He'd be a great poster. Or on a poster. Or at the dentist. Or wherever.
Come on, Mike! I can't get to Portland for the meet and greet, spill it! There's got to be a blog. Since you no longer work for the Blazers there is no reason why you can't start on S2.
I'll miss Mike Barrett a lot. I'll also fondly point out in future years that our own Mike Rice is the only commentator ever to be thrown out of a game!
I'm sure Mike Rice has a non disclosure clause in his contract, so if he says anything and they find out he did he loses out on his contract or something.
I enjoyed meeting Mike Rice...he has a really high understanding of the game and I appreciate his loyalty...Barrett too..pros...Tone I wish well in his new biz! Hope they all stay Blazer fans for life!
