He averages 2.3 blocks per game and gives all kinds of guys problems on the inside. But this is nothing new, people keep underrating Elton every year, gets boring after a while. There is a reason why Brand is starring on losing teams yes, he has no guys with experience or a decent point guard or a decent center. He needs some vets around him, If Kobe joins than team next year they will be in the playoffs no doubt about it. Being stuck in the west where the real great teams are doesn't help his cause. Just look at their record, playoff team in the eastern conference.

I pity the fool who takes on Skywzrd!
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting AllNet:</div><div class="quote_post">Okur is a very soild center who produces anytime he gets on court, don't make statements that are totally un-true. If big Z was on the Pistons, Ben would have to bail his ass out everytime on the defensive end. He might be one of the worst 7 foot defenders I've ever seen.</div> put it this way when z is on he is on fire but when he is off he is cold as ice. worst 7 foot defenders? what about Manute Boll, Shawn Bradly, George Murreson? they were worse than 7

I know how well he fills out the box scores. He's undersized, like Boozer, but as bad as people make Boozer out to be, Brand is even easier to score on. Blame the system, if you like. Blame the Clippers and the Bulls for his troubles, but at some point, you have to account for the fact that Boozer has done a better job so far. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">There is a reason why Brand is starring on losing teams yes, he has no guys with experience or a decent point guard or a decent center.</div>Just by looking at his stats, you'd think you're looking at a centerpiece of a championship team. He isn't, nor will he ever be, most likely. He'd be a very good complimentary player though, like you said, because he's still one of the better PF's in the league.

I don't tend to watch that many Clipper games but Brand gets in good position when defending a guy and gives him trouble, he likely won't be a guy who will shut down guys but he is certainly a good defender who can block shots and force guys into much tougher shots. He has that toughness all coaches love. Brand would be a GREAT 2nd option and wether he will ever get the chance to become one is another story, Clippers have never really been known to get superstar players to sign for that franchise.
I practically agree with your last post 100%, AllNet. Not a bad way to finish our Boozer/Brand discussion.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting AllNet:</div><div class="quote_post">Boozer has actually improved his defense as the season has gone on, he is only a 2nd year player so clearly there are parts of his game he needs to work on and defense has been one of them, which from the looks he has.</div> I'll put in my final word in saying that Boozer does not scare anyone when it comes to man defense.
Boozer's 0.7 average in blocks, or there about, shows he's not the biggest defensive threat. His defense is improving to an adequate level, but we need a bit more.
Boozer doesn't stuff that stat sheet with his defense. Nowitzki gets more steals and blocks than Boozer, but even a blindfolded midget can score on him. Sure, Boozer's not a great 1 on 1 defender by any means. Tall, athletic big men give him trouble, but there's not many of those. He's a solid help defender, and plays better overall defense than many big name players and many, if not most, foreign born players. I don't think anyone would mind having Gasol or Nowitzki on their team, because they do enough to make up for their weak defense. Boozer's overall game is in the same category, because he will outplay his opponent more times than not, which is the bottom line. A player can score 15 points on Boozer, but he might score 15 and grab 15 rebounds and do so more efficiently. That's his game.
Boozer's game is totally a complimentary game. He's no stat filler as you say Sky, although his boarding is at a high rate! But every other part of his game, he does whats neccessary for the W. Some games it is scoring, and he'll post 20+ at 50% shooting. Other games his scoring isn't neccessary, and he wont jack up too many shots. He is TEAM. I never see him as a +17ppg guy because of that. But that aint a bad thing! Biggest bargain in the NBA by a long shot!
I muse at the junk prose to be found lying around on various boards about Boozer!! He's undersized He playes well but They never run plays for him He's a bit short of being a stud He can't create He can't jump He's good not great Somebody was a bigger presence There's a dozen PF's in the league I'd take over him He'll never be an "elite" PF in the NBA He's a *Maybe* Not quick enuf to stop the quick PF's Limited athletically He'll always be a 2nd tier PF Can't bang with the bangers He's a couple inches short of "IDEAL" He's replaceable In my mind, his play this season has dispelled these comments by now!!.................And for the few unbelievers who might still be left.........Whadaya want for a half a million bucks anyway?? Tank...................
