I thought about that conspiracy angle, but do the NBA owners open their books in the CBA negotiations? It's my impression that they don't. Certainly the TV ratings would reflect a downturn if its Memphis, Portland, New Orleans & Okelydokely City that advance in the West

Memphis ousts SA, Chris Paul is suddenly back and Roy puts the blazers on his back for the last two games to show he isn't done while sterns Golden Boy team advances. Thats 3 feel good stories that would make for a lot of good television. The Ratings on the other hand would be one hell of a lot lower then if it was SA/DAllas/OKC/Lakers

It would be pretty funny if the arena played the Law and Order sound effect every time the refs made a bullshit call.

My deal is I absolutely love watching the sport of basketball being played at the highest level. But, I absolutely hate the way the NBA has been branded by Stern and how much pull an NBA official can have on the outcome of a game. No other sport do fans know the names of over 50% of the officials in the league.

Since I love the sport of basketball, I must bite my lip and continue to watch as the game is made into a mockery. I can't help it.

I thought the refs sent a clear message to the teams and the home fans with the first play of the game, when they called Wallace for the illegal screen. I thought, "Oh, I see. That's how it's going to be." And it was. But I was not surprised. When Brandon got tackled to the floor, and you could see the ref signaling that it was a clean steal, I called my wife in to show her and said: "How can you tell the refs are not going to allow you to compete in a basketball game? Watch this." She was, as any decent human would have been, appalled.

Dallas was not just allowed to push off as needed on offense, they were pushing off on rebounds like the rule doesn't exist. And don't get me started on all the illegal picks they set.

Contrary to form, I actually do not expect Game 6 in Portland to suffer from biased refereeing. I expect it to be called pretty straight up, at least to the best of their abilities to do so. Let the best team win. If there is a Game 7, however, I fully expect a repeat of Game 1.

Yeah, this nails it. Wallace starts off strong, they hit him with two fast fouls. The refs look to see who is getting the best of the other team and make sure we cant play them. They are allowed to run ramshod over around and through us without a whistle.

I dont think that any team that is being hamstrung, taken out of the flow, and altered rotation, has a chance in hell to win. Sure we sucked on the boards, missed shots but would we have been that bad if we had been allowed to play the guys who had to sit on the bench with foul trouble? Would it have been closer if Dirk dident get a love fest at the line? If, oh, I dont know, say the refs called the game evenly? Yeah I think the refs took us out of the game.

Nothing sucks the life out of you than when the refs are calling it lopsided. Mentally, you have to be money no matter what and you know the other team will get bailed out. Everything is tighter and you're thinking about staying out of foul trouble more than scoring the bucket. Call it fair and we got a chance. Let's just hope that they call it even for game 7.

I see refs come out before games all the time and BS with players and executives all the time prior to games. Specifically Joe Mauer and Dick Bavetta.

The whole thing is blurred. It's not just refs and players or coaches, it's everyone in the league. There's hardly any rivalries anymore. It's all just one big show now.

I don't really see it that way. Game one Dallas definitely got the better calls, game two I didn't like that they were calling Berea's flops, but other than that pretty fair. One of game three or four really seemed to be called in Portland's favor, can't remember which. Game 5, I thought the disparity in calls was warranted, I like no-calls when it's not definite if there was a foul or not. When Portland fouled it was almost always right at the basket and with only one guy doing the fouling, and fouling in desperation because either Dallas had great passing or other times atrocious defense by Portland. They were fouls that were out in the open and had to be called.

If I were them, I'd want Williams and Howard, with Westbrook as my second choice. I have a feeling we'll see a decline in Paul's production over the next few years due to his knee.
