Uh, can't they tell ligament/tendon/etc. damage from the MRI? The Mikes said (iirc) that the MRI showed that there wasn't anything wrong with the ancillary stuff, that it was just a fractured patella. Respect your opinion, but am 180 degrees out in your conclusion.
I didn't hear anyone definitively say there wasn't ancillary damage. I assume they wouldn't say something like that without it being clear-cut. So I must have missed that part. Perhaps I am wrong...It just seems like until the player is out of surgery they never seem to be willing to talk specifically about recovery...because of the unknowns that can't be seen in the imaging.
What are you smoking? Oden is one of the most fragile players I've ever seen. He figures out how to break a new body part every season, it seems. I would love to see him come back and be "dominant," but the kid is just cursed with brittle bones. I don't see him ever staying healthy long enough to become a "dominant" player in the NBA. And I say that with a heavy heart. This is one of the worst days I've ever had as a Blazer fan in 40 years.
And 12 months from now, we will be hearing how unreasonable it is to expect him to be 100%. Lather, rinse, repeat.
So, I see you're going with the pessimistic view on this one. Let me know how that turns out for ya. I'll be going the other way on this.
Back to the original subject. The Blazers aren't trading Roy and LMA. Everybody else should be down at the post office getting those forms for having their mail forwarded. Maybe keep Bayless and Dante, as they seem to be the only ones among the younger players who are reasonably healthy. Rudy, Pendergraph, and Oden are damaged goods, Batum is questionable, and everybody else is too old to be of any use to a rebuilding team.
So you were pessimistic about Greg and you were 'right'? Great, Micheal, tell him what he won! Another year of mediocrity. Yay! Go Blazers
I'm certainly not happy about it. It's horrific news for the Blazers. It doesn't change my opinion on Oden, though.
I remember the year Portland had the worst record in the whole league. They picked 4th that year. Who in next years draft could Portland pick at 4th that would make tanking a whole season worth it? John Wall is going to be awesome but he is going first. After that there isn't any sure thing. You want to throw the whole season away for around a 28% chance to get a Point Guard Nate wouldn't start? Not a good gamble in my opinion.
i was going to post this exactly, the only person worth tanking for is Wall, and thats a rare ball bounce to count on getting him.
