Why couldn't they keep all three and Ibaka? All they had to do was pay for it.

Nailed the Harden pick? You mean after Memphis fucked up their choice by drafting Thabeet?
It was gift rapped to him. The only other options really were PG's and they already had one.

A lot of people (I may have been one) sneered at him for not taking Tyreke Evans. The thinking was (a) Evans was ROY, and (b) given Westbrook's shortcomings as a PG, it would be nice to have someone with PG skills next to him. Of course, it turns out that Harden was a rich man's Tyreke Evans. The reason Presti is good is because both Westbrook and Harden were taken several picks earlier than they were projected, and both turned out to be the right call. (Durant, of course, was REALLY giftwrapped for them. I like "gift rapped": hope they were phat beats.)

Okay: but in terms of "pure" shooting skill, Curry could be beaten by people not in the NBA (like that Ohio State kid we drafted who never made it).

I wonder which of the "Splash Brothers" wins their HORSE games more often. (They've got to have them, right?)

That is, I admit, amazing. What's scary is how many he's already taken! Kerr made 726 his entire career - Curry has already made 644. Drazen Petrovic (4th) only made 255 total!

What was the name of that guy who played for the first Bulls three-peat who won the 3-point contest three years running until they didn't invite him back? Surprised he's not on the list.

I don't think you are remembering this draft very well. Granted that most people I am around are Pac 12 (Pac 10 at the time) fans, but everyone was projecting Harden #2 or #3. The discussions were all .....does OKC go for a center or for a SG? I don't remember any other options. He certainly was not taken higher than projected. If he was then those people need to watch a little more west coast college BB.

Hes already made more 3's than Larry Bird did in his whole career, and IIRC its not even very close.

In general he was considered a top 3-5 guy but there was a large contingent that thought he was unathletic, couldn't play defense, etc. And keep in mind Tyreke and Rubio had big time hype and were under consideration in the 2-5 spots. Presti clearly made the right pick, for whatever thats worth.

I guess I under estimate my own scouting ability. I forget that I know just as much as the "experts" when it comes to players I have actually watch through out the year. It seemed obvious that Harden was going to be very good. Granted Rubio was the wild card in the draft, but with Westbrook already at OKC, the thought of a Harden-Westbrook back court to go along with Durant made me nervous before the draft. I wanted Memphis to take Harden.

I believe it is Steve Kerr. Well over 50%.

Bird didn't shoot threes all that often.

He's half a gm then? He can draft but sucks at everything else.

You trade westbrook for another star and keep Harden, westbrook is an inefficient chucker.

Focusing on per-game numbers isn't astute either. Bird played in a pretty fast-paced environment.

He made some nice bargain basement FA signings. They're not big players in the FA market for obvious reasons so I'd add that to his pluses. And again how can you say his trades have turned out poorly? Seems like there were no better offers for Harden and ownership wasn't going to pay him. Perkins trade was a bust, but Jeff Green is just starting to "break out" and hes still not even a starter. Is he supposed to pull highway robbery with every trade to be considered good at what he does?

They could have traded Westbrook but they'd be PG-less. Westbrooks not the most efficient guy but don't they have an incredible record when he scores 20+? There's some stat out there that gets floated around during TV broadcasts a lot. If they dealt Westbrook instead he'd have flourished on his own just like Harden did, the Thunder would have taken a step backward anyway and we'd be having the same debate and wondering why a contender dumped a star player at the most important position in the league.

Westbrook can get to the basket at will. There is no one in the league who can guard him.

Curtain call for Knicks? They're the only team remaining in the playoffs that I like.

Still room on the Pacers, Spurs or Grizzlies bandwagon.

The Heat bandwagon is full of shit chomping mongers. I'd stay away from them.

Shumpert on fire from 3. Can they keep it up? Anthony is unstoppable tonight, too.

Early in season, I talked about Knicks playing well and Shumpert wasn't even back yet and someone in here bashed me saying that Shumpert was a joke of a player who would make no impact. I wish I could find that post....
