I don't see any team in the league investing big multi year money in Wes. Do you think the Lakers will sacrifice cap room for Durant to have Wes be their only free agent addition this summer? The Knicks only have room for one $15million contract; Wes and Melo and the Latvian kid aren't carrying a team anywhere. Is Dallas letting Chandler and Ellis walk to bring in Wes as their main free agent acquisition? I don't think so. I don't see one team that it makes sense adding Wes to their roster at $15 million per year. Also with us not offering him that type of long term deal it'll be a red flag to other teams.

I would like to get $15 million a year too but when it doesn't happen I go back to my job. I expect when Wes doesn't get that huge payday he'd ideally like he signs here for a short term deal, tries to prove he's healthy, then aims to cash in on the TV money next summer.

    109. What is tampering?

Tampering is when a player or team directly or indirectly entices, induces or persuades anybody (player, general manager, etc.) who is under contract with another team in order to negotiate for their services. The NBA may impose suspensions and/or fines up to $50,000 if tampering is discovered, however the league's practice has been to wait until a team lodges a complaint before investigating (but that's not to say they don't continue to monitor the league and won't take action independently if they discover that tampering has occurred). Here are some examples:

I could see a team like DET, or PHX (those level of teams more then those teams specifically) spending 12 MIL on Wes. It isn't 15 but it might be more then we still want to spend.

Portland, until July 1 the official end of the season, or until we renounce his rights I believe.

I was thinking you were responding to Lillard talking to Aldridge, but you were probably talking about Melo. My bad.

It might be a written rule but it's never been enforced. What matters is how the rules are applied not how you or me interpret the language. Players are free to informally recruit other players and the league has said they won't interfere with it.

Perhaps think of it as players are free to casually talk to other players about where they play in their free time away from either team. But they can't bring a potential free agent into the practice facility or official team property or talk with team management.

You are right. Hardwood classics told me he already talked with the league and they said they don't enforce this rule.

Why the fuck have it if you aren't going to enforce it? Take the fucking rule off then!

The NBA can't interfere with the personal lives of players (employees) when they are away from their jobs. It's just not a fight worth their time. Management is different. But it's best to leave the rule there or it would be even more blatant recruiting.

I'm pretty sure Wade, Bosh and James talked before joining forces in Miami

As I said, then take out that part of the rule.

Which is perfectly fair and allowed by the league.

Reports are that LAL is willing to throw in D'Angelo Russell to a deal to get Boogie.

Edit: Or maybe not actually. There are conflicting reports.
