Why do we need Kaminsky, when we have Colins and Leonard?

American people have a much different mentality than european people, in " my country" (Germany) the society can be extremely envious, especially when it comes to money.

In America, you MUST take every dime you can get from the system. Because the system will rarely give you a dime back. Especially when you are part of those who don't have access to generational wealth (Blacks in general are in that boat). The way America is built, your family wealth is your safety net. And if you are the first/only one in the family to ever make 6 figure, you might be the safety net of your family, your childhood friends, your block/neighborhood, ...

Haven't read the whole thread, so I apologize if this has been covered earlier:

If this D'Lo-->Warriors thing is being accomplished a double sign-and-trade with him and Durant switching teams, exactly what benefit are Brooklyn and KD getting out of this arrangement?

For anyone who cares, I really think we need one more move.
    Roster doesn't feel balanced.
Maybe the one Jaynes alluded to, for a center?

Always liked Sato; thought he got marginalized for years in Washington behind Porter and Oubre. Now he's behind Porter again--but possibly alongside him instead? Perhaps they're done with Dunn?

Money is considered the most important thing in American society. With it comes a tremendous amount of power, but also status. If you have money, you often are much more revered for that than you are in other countries to where I've traveled.

I think it's because the United States was largely built on competition and financial success was viewed as life success, no matter how they make it. People will try to accumulate vast sums of wealth, going well beyond what they ever could spend.

I agree many people think this, but its a stupid mindset.

Over 80% of US millionaires didn't inherit their wealth.

Work, buy a house you can afford, pay it off, invest in 401k/IRA, don't buy new cars. Anyone can become a millionaire, instead many people want to buy shit they cant afford and have someone else give them money.

However I certainly would never question any basketball player (nor anyone in general) for taking a job offer that is the largest offer. In fact if they passed, I would want to hear a good reason why.

As of now with Nurk out, Dame is the top returning rebounder on the roster at 4.6 rpg. A lot of 'wing' accumulation so far (much needed) but they still are very thin at the 4/5.

Also, can't believe that Harkless will still be on this roster for much of the season.

Maybe they get more cap space, as Russel cap hold is less than Durant salary.

It's like Rachel Nichols and Lisa Leslie said yesterday, though: Not everyone has to want the same things.

Go through the posts on here and check the percentage of posters who say we have no shot at Kanter because he can make more money somewhere else. And not even a great deal more money by NBA standards. Just more. "He'll go where he can make more." Everyone just assumes that to be the case because that's how most people in this country are conditioned to think. Now, he might do that. But, in my experience, a much greater emphasis is put on wealth in the United States than in other developed countries.

Just a personal anecdote. I left my job last year on principle. I didn't agree with the ethics of my workplace or my managers. Everyone was shocked. But the first question I typically get is "What are you doing (for a job)?" Not "How are you doing?" Not even "How is that working out for you?" Nope. First question I typically field is about how I am going to make money. Like that is how a lot of people here define another person. I think that's so short-sighted, personally. I had more people shocked that I left a workplace over character than actually were interested in how I was doing or talking about life in general. Like I told my former boss when he said people identified people by their job ... that's the saddest thing I ever heard.

How much money does Miami havc to save to be able to take Butler? They could save $4 million by trading us Whiteside for Harkless and Leonard. He would be a great fill-in for Nurkic for a year.

BTW; although I advocated for trying to trade for Butler earlier; sure glad we didn't. Reported that he always wanted to be in Miami!!?? It looks to me like he has to be the #1 option on a team. If Olshey knew this from his sources and made no attempt to trade for him, then kudos to Olshey.

Then maybe they should trade Porter to the Blazers!

He also seems like a total headcase. Four teams in four years and the Sixers didn’t even try to keep him, despite trading all those assets to get him in the first place.

I was wondering this too. The only thing I could think of is that they needed to send Napier and Graham out and make it a legit trade so they had the Full-MLE to sign Jordan.

MCW stays with Orlando, Wayne Ellington to Knicks.

    Both per Woj.

I'm becoming more and more convinced that Portland will both acquire another big and will trade Harkless or let Layman go if he receives anything over the QO. IMO, Olshy would like a free #15 roster spot for either a player like Hoard/Daum if they are better than 2-way status or the flexibility to add another player via a trade that might be unbalanced.
