It would shock me to see the Raiders take CJ Henderson. He is athletic but he sucks at tackling. Gruden wouldn't play someone like that. That is not a Gruden grinder.

He is definitely not a tackler but that is coachable. His coverage ability is phenomenal though, and when you see Hill, Watkins, Allen, Williams, Sutton, etc multiple times per season you need a guy who can cover.

We have Trayvon Mullen who showed huge glimpses last year.

I like Jaylon Johnson more than Henderson. I wouldn't take him at 12 obviously.

Given the way your board played out I would probably take Kinlaw at 12, trade down at 19 if possible to take Johnson.

Trade up with our 3 3rd round picks to get back in the 2nd to take pittman the wr from usc.

Or take mims or jefferson at 19.

Take bryce hall with our 3rd round pick.

Assuming Gruden can coach. The jury’s out on Gruden.

He has the same amount of Super Bowls as Pete Carroll.

Mayock is a good GM. They will nail this draft. Last year's draft was a great start. The good news is Gruden has 8 more years to show you he is a good coach.

This is a really good mock, IMO. Kristian Fulton seems really high in this mock, that would be my only quibble. I think Tua, Herbert and Love are mocked pretty well in a rational world, but there's a lot of irrationality around quarterbacks and I think Herbert is going to get pushed up the board.

Also, a few reporters insist that the Dolphins' management is split between Tagovailoa and Herbert, which doesn't say good things about their front office to me. Teams should be trying to trade up to #3 for Tua--he's a phenomenal quarterback prospect.

You are incredibly high on Tua. -Im not knocking it, just find it interesting. Im kinda split on this entire QB class.
Burrow kinda had a spontaneous amazing year out of nowhere, with a team that had a lot of NFL talent.
Tua’s got long term health questions, and also played on a team with an abundance of talent.
Herbert, well... As a Duck fan I hope he does really well.
I could go on, I do believe those are the top 3, but how good they will be in the NFL, I have no idea. I think a lot of it will come down to who is put in a better position, coaching, OL, running games, etc.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Quarterback is a notoriously difficult position to evaluate, because of lot of the complicating factors (the scheme they play in, the talent around them, the quality of the defenses they faced, etc). I'm so high on Tagovailoa because the last time I saw a college quarterback so advanced in his mechanics, reads and accuracy was Andrew Luck. And the last time before him was Peyton Manning. Those are the only two quarterbacks that I think I've seen in the past ~25 years who were as polished and clean in how they play at the college level (as a 49ers fan, it pains to me say this, but Russell Wilson was pretty high up that list too).

I'm less certain of Burrow than I am of Tagovailoa, because Burrow is the kind of talent you can fall in love with (and I have) but see it all fall apart at the NFL level. Burrow is a great talent, but Tagovailoa is both great and safe--as a talent. His risk is all in health, but so far, his injuries don't seem like something that should be chronic or career-altering. You can't know that for certain, but if that's the case, I have a really hard time seeing how he fails. He looked like a young NFL veteran playing in college.

Whoever takes Herbert is in for a bad time, imo.

Jon Gruden is 106-102 as an NFL head coach. Pete Carroll is 133-90-1.

Still just one super bowl tied each baby. Gruden has 8 more years to get another one. Does Pete?

Pete is slimy as they come slithering out of USC just in time.

Pete’s in better shape than Gruden so I think so.

Gruden hasn’t really built much in his career, he inherited mostly positive things before this most recent hire.

He built the raiders team that went to the superbowl. And then proceeded to beat them. Callahan is a good oline coach but he literally inherited the team Gruden built with minimal changes. One of the reasons Gruden was able to crush us.

Only coach traded for a 1st and a 2nd too.

People forget that Gruden was Sean McVay before McVay.

Look at the coaches in todays nfl that worked under Gruden at one point. The names are eye opening.

Now look at the names under Petes coaching tree. Leaves a lot to be desired.

Coaching trees aren’t that important, Belichicks is pretty meh too but he’s still an elite coach. Pete’s philosophy is what makes him successful, not many can really match his enthusiasm and mind numbing stubbornness. I don’t think Gruden is a bad coach but I think he’s a guy who can split a team and likes to rest on his accomplishments of the past.

Herbert getting shit on only helps him imo. Low expectations, depending on where he goes he could develop and turn into something special. I think he is the most pro-ready QB Oregon has produced. He isn’t the most flashy obviously but I think his game was meant for a pro style.

Gruden hasn't had a winning record since 2008. That's a long time in the NFL.
