Also have to say I'm not a fan of the Vikes trading down with SF. They already had 7 3rd-day picks; is 2 more late picks going to improve the team? I mean, do they expect to keep 11 rookies on the 53-man roster? Just not buying it.

For a minute there, I had forgotten that they extended him.

It was a happy moment, short-lived though it may have been.

McKinney on the board, only 2 safeties on the while freakin' roster, and the Vikes go DB. Ugh... If they were going to take a TCU guy, that huge DT of theirs would have fit nicely.

Everyone I'm reading on twitter loves the Gladney pick. I need to reserve judgement I guess.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
I liked what the 49ers did. I wasn't as convinced as so many others that the 49ers would take one of the "big three" wide receivers at 13--this draft is deep in wide receiver talent and none of the big three were the kind of transcendent receiver that completely separates himself as a prospect (like a Calvin Johnson, AJ Green or Julio Jones).

I actually liked Kinlaw a lot going into the draft--I liked him better than Derrick Brown, because Brown is a dominant run-stopper, but hasn't shown a lot of explosive pass rushing ability. Kinlaw has shown that kind of pocket disruption, while still being a good run defender. I value pass rush much more highly in this era of football than run-stoppage.

Brandon Aiyuk wasn't my favored target near the end of the first round--I actually had my eye on Denzel Mims. But I trust Shanahan to pick a wide receiver over my own eye, and there's a lot to like about Aiyuk; despite being only 6', he has an 81'' wingspan--that's only an inch less than Calvin Johnson's! He's also incredible with the ball in his hands. Playing for a coach who's great at scheming guys open in space, huge YAC guys are deadly. He still needs to develop as a route-runner, but there's a ton of promise there.

They just got to the NFC Championship game though, I know apparently the matchup with the 49ers they just had no answers for them, but seems like they could have got some OL / WR help and see if they can make a run at it again. Maybe they are tired of Rodgers schtick, but when he's on he's really good, so it seems like the talent kinda beats out the pain in the butt he can be.

It could be they are tired of Rogers schtick and want to go younger and trade him now while he's got some value. In fact Rogers may want a change of scenery?
If they get another vet to buy Love a year or two, they may have their next gun slinger, risky Farve like qb?

Love's not going to be ready to compete at a high level for a while. Trading Rodgers would be closing the door on their current competitive window, IMO. I don't think they'd want to do that. I think they'll use the rest of the draft to try and improve the team around Rodgers, see how far they can go in the next 2-3 years with Rodgers and then hope Love can take over.

Love the Wills selection for my Browns. Needed to shore up that OLine, adding him and Conklin is big.

I don't think they trade him, but I also think using a number 1 pick on a project when you have a QB seems... odd, especially trading up for it.

I think the Pack are going with Aaron Rodgers for at least another 2 seasons thereby giving Love time to acclimate to the NFL.

Do you think there was any danger in Love being gone by the time they drafted had they not traded up?

Yes, I think some team would have traded up to 30/31 to select him in the first round if he were still available, because first round picks get a fifth-year option, so drafting a quarterback at the end of the first round is much better than drafting him in the second. You get an extra year of control before free agency.

He has some Mahomes potential if everything clicks. The Packers clearly putting him on the Rodgers/Favre program. Draft the successor while the current franchise quarterback is still playing.

In order for anyone to have some Mahomes potential they better have like 3-4 ridiculously fast WR's, a semi-generational TE, and an offensive-minded coach that loves drawing up plays. The packers right now, I'm not sure they have any of those things. heh.
