I just thoguht about what I said though, Sacromento might have the tools to get him. Kevin Martin and a large salary for AI. but who has a big salary on the kings?

QUOTE

Well, they might wanna win NOW, cause of the age of the other players.
Well judging by what Kings could offer, the Sixers should balk at it(taking on a large contract is something they would avoid). Also, the Kings would not include Kevin Martin, a player they decided to keep and build as one of their core members over Bonzi Wells this past summer.
let's go through the positives and negatives for each team's likelihood of getting iverson.Boston:+'s-Plenty of potential and young talent, picks.-Desperation-Iverson said he would want to go to Boston.-'s-Division rival.Denver:+'s-Western Conference team.-Variety of contracts, fairly flexible for trades.-'s-Not alot of young talent to give away, and I don't know if they want to give up on JR Smith after recently acquiring him.-I'm not sure on this, but I think they already owe NJ a pick from the KMart trade. I'm not sure if they've given them all away yet or not.Minnesota:+'s-Philly is said to have some interest in Randy Foye.-There has to be some pull for AI when kg is in minny.-'s-Minnesota has NO picks to trade, and limited assets. This team is not very deep, and they're pretty inflexible cap-wise.Chicago:+'s-Lots of young talent, and a contending team.-A few big contracts and lots of small contracts make for flexibilty cap-wise.-'s-Not alot of this young talent is expendable, or even touchable.-I'm not sure Skiles wants to coach Iverson.
word is that the decision's gonna be made tonightso if your team's in the running look for anybody in the box score that says "DNP - Coach's Decision" in tonight's game`
By listening to Stephen A. Smith and John Hollinger, Boston and Golden State are the two teams really in it right now. Apparently Philly is deciding between Ratliff/young players from Boston and Baron Davis/1st round pick from Golden State.Seeing how the Baron trade makes no sense for Philly, IMO, Boston's chances are looking mighty good! PLEASE let this happen!

QUOTE

Sixers general manager Billy King fielded calls from numerous teams yesterday in trade talks for Allen Iverson. Here are some of the players being discussed: Everybody on the team is fair game except Paul Pierce. Expiring contracts of Austin Croshere, Jerry Stackhouse plus Devin Harris. Expiring contracts of P.J. Brown, Michael Sweetney, plus Ben Gordon, No.1 pick. Deal would need to include Corey Maggette, Shaun Livingston. Troy Murphy, Mike Dunleavy Jr., Jason Richardson. Sixers most interested in Monta Ellis.
So here are the most likely teams AI might go to:BostonChicagoDallasGolden StateLA ClippersI saw more articles on Hoops Hype that Bobcats and Kings are in the running too.

yeah it seems the most competitive teams right now are Boston and Golden State as everybody that had the chips has dropped outGolden State is offering Baron Davis and a 1st rounderBoston is offering Theo, Delonte, Bassy and Jefferson or Gomes (at least that's how it's looking)I think Boston's offer is a lot more attractiveI tried the deal of Ratliff, Jefferson, Telfair and West for Iverson and Hunter on ESPN Trade Manager (which basically show how salaries match up) and it workedand I just heard the Sixers want to involve Webber in the trade..which will probably turn off a lot of teams..Celtics included

Mike Bibby, Ron Artest, and Brad Miller arent getting any younger, and their only real young talented players are Martin, Price, and Francisco. That isnt going to be enough to get them a championship in the future. I think that if they got a player like AI, they would definitely be in the runnings in the west IMO. Allen Iverson is that good. THe only question is if the Kings would be able to offer enough to intrigue King. I still think the celtics would have more to offer, but the Kings wouldnt be too bad either.
Some very interesting news:http://www.dailypress.com/news/local/dp-bo...ews-local-final
QUOTE

The Sixers, according to a source, were close to sending Iverson to the Charlotte Bobcats for a package of players Monday afternoon. But Iverson indicated his displeasure with being sent to the Bobcats -- the league's newest team, having begun play in 2004 -- and the deal died, the source said. Iverson, a former Bethel High standout, asked to be traded last week, and a source indicated that he didn't care where he was sent. But that apparently did not extend to the Bobcats, who are struggling to draw fans, and who would have difficulty bringing someone to Charlotte who didn't want to be there, and who would likely make that unhappiness known to the public. With only a little more than $38 million in player salaries -- forward Gerald Wallace is the team's highest-paid player, at just $5.5 million this season -- Charlotte is about $15 million below the league's salary cap of $53.1 million and could make a major player acquisition easier than any team in the league. The Bobcats also have players with short contracts, which fits the Sixers' desires. Philadelphia wants to trade Iverson for players whose deals expire either this season or after the 2007-08 season, when Chris Webber's contract ends and the Sixers expect to finally get under the salary cap. Charlotte has a few players who fill that bill: veteran guard Brevin Knight, who makes $4.4 million this season on a contract that expires in 2008; forward Melvin Ely, whose $3.3-million contract ends after this season; forward Othella Harrington (2008, $2.2 million this season); and underrated center Primoz Brezec (2008, $2.75 million this season). Dealing any or all of those players would not affect the Bobcats' core group: guard Raymond Felton, guard Adam Morrison, forward Sean May or center Emeka Okafor. Wallace, 24, who has become a much-improved player in Charlotte, would be attractive to the Sixers, but he's also part of that core. At least one team believed the Bobcats were in the driver's seat earlier Monday. "It's Michael (Jordan)'s deal to turn down," said an executive of one team that is involved in the trade discussions, referring to Charlotte's new minority owner. It is uncertain whether the proposed trade can be resurrected. Meanwhile, Sixers president Billy King continues to sift through other offers. He's keeping those offers extremely close to the vest. One longtime friend of King's, with an NBA team, said King "wasn't telling me a ... thing" about which way he was thinking. Sources indicate that Indiana, Boston and Minnesota continue to express interest in Iverson, with Denver and Sacramento also in the mix. But in some cases, King would likely have to take a player he wouldn't necessarily want in order to get rid of Iverson. The Pacers, for example, want to rid themselves of swingman Stephen Jackson, who has three years left on his deal. The Timberwolves are shopping guard Ricky Davis. The Kings seem to be stronger players in the bidding for Iverson than one would think at first glance. A source said Sacramento was discussing a package including guard Mike Bibby and forward Kenny Thomas for Iverson. Each has connections to Webber: Bibby and Webber led the Kings to the Western Conference finals in 2002; Thomas was part of the package the Sixers traded to Sacramento for Webber in 2005. But Thomas' contract, which King negotiated, does not expire until after the 2008-09 season.
WOW, AI was almost a Bobcat? That's crazy. I can definitely understand why Iverson turned that deal down though. The man wants to leave Philly so he can go somewhere and win games, going to the newest franchise in the NBA with a totally toung core is not something he really wants to do.And the search continues... ugh. Get something done quickly, please. Also, news for us Celtics fans who are having a hard time trying to picture us trading Big Al:http://insider.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index..._chris#20061201
QUOTE

Tonight's blog entry comes from Madison Square Garden, where I informed Al Jefferson of the Celtics that he may have been the very reason why Allen Iverson is a Sixer rather than a Celtic.Word spread around the NBA grapevine quickly Monday that the Celtics had told the 76ers they were not willing to part with the 21-year-old big man in an Iverson trade.I related that rumor to Celtics president Danny Ainge and owner Wyc Grousbeck prior to Boston's 97-90 victory over the Knicks, and both responded with nervous laughs.
Also, Ainge has emphasized that even though Big Al hasn't been in recent discussions, that we are most certainly NOT out of the Iverson running. Now, personally, I don't know how this goes down without us giving up Big Al or Gerald Green (Green was reportedly labled as "untouchable"). But who knows, really? Ainge has always been known for pulling the impossible move out of his ass, so we'll see where this goes.EDIT: I found this from CelticsBlog:
QUOTE

from Philly Real GM board, This guy has a source: Telfair or west,Ratliff,Gomes and a first is their offer right now as of 11 PM. No Green and no Jefferson in it This is what he says Danny Ainge is offering. I like it and I would not offer more.
I would rather deal Gomes than Big Al. I mean this is a person from RealGM who supposedly has a "source" (which nobody seems to ever reveal), but take it for what it's worth. If we can swing a deal for Iverson without giving up Al Jefferson or Gerald Green, I will do 7 backflips and my nipples will get hard.
phew, that was close. I could never see ai in boston. first of all, I wouldn't see bickerstaff even wanting him. I mean, why split the group he has now? because you almost know that king wanted felton, and I really think felton will be something special. They would make the playoffs, then go nowhere.
