It's easy not to have an emotional hangover when you get a day off.

it would've surprised me 2 days ago, but in the POR game they said something about his being in the league 10 years. I had to think about that twice.

Usually you have 14 years in the league. If you take care of yourself; you can have 16. I think lj will be in for 16 years. That means if he scores 20 a game for the next 6 years, not even including playoffs; he will add 1640 per season x 6 = 9,860 more points. Where does that put him?

No, that takes into account him getting that 9860 points....with those, he'd STILL be 9k short.

    Yeah. They're 3-5 without Felton.

However, that record might be misleading, because they were 2-3 in his last five games before injury.

Another record that you can take whatever way you want is that they're 3-4 since Amare Stoudemire has been back.

Aside from the Amare issue and the age issue though, I've never been a fan of how J.R. Smith fits into their offense. I don't think that letting Smith have the offensive freedom they've given to him is a good thing. I've been saying for a while that he's in that O.J. Mayo class of players that can give you 20+ or hit a game winner, but that doesn't necessarily mean he's having a positive impact on your team at the end of the day. He's still an overall disruptive player in their offense.

It's interesting to note though, J.R. Smith could very well likely be voted into the All-Star game this year. I was watching NBA TV, and both Mike Fratello and Dennis Scott had him on their All-Star rosters. That speaks to how weak the East is, because when they projected the West, both analysts excluded players like Gasol, Jefferson, and either Parker or Curry. That also sort of speaks to the media bias towards the New York market though. I just hope the coaches think differently.

You mean picked not voted correct? No chance J.R. Smith is voted into the All-Star game by the fans. He is not in the top 10 highest voting getters for Guards. Oddly enough Felton is.

Yeah, picked not voted. When I typed that, I was thinking "voted into the All-Star game (by the coaches)."

Fan voting is such bullshit though. People say that it's a "game for the fans," but if that's the case, then analysts should cease to use the term "All-Star" as an honor for players.

The way I grew up watching the game, I always understood that a player who had been named an "All-Star" was one of the best players in the league. The title meant something. That sort of changed with the whole Grant Hill, Tracy McGrady, Yao Ming, etc. era of fan voting though.

The only two this year that I can see someone having a problem with are Kevin Garnett and Dwight Howard, but neither is as egregious of an example as some of the ones from the past. Garnett doesn't deserve the nod in any way, but the reality is that the East is so weak, if he didn't get the nod, some other borderline All-Star would.

The coaches vote for the subs. The only players "picked" are replacement players for injury, such as Kevin Love in his first All-Star appearance.

I always liked the approach of fan voting accounts for a % of all-stars. Maybe even something high like 70% for starters. Then the coaches and writers vote the remainer in and act as a normalizer for ignorant votes.

I mean come on you fucking Chinese!!!! Lin is better than the other guards you voted into the all-star game? FUCK THAT!
