And Tolliver fucked up on that last shot.

And we blew a huge lead.

And we're missing half our damn team.

When CJ is not scoring at least 20 points, he becomes a liability for this Franchise. He cant do anything except scoring, we have this conversation since 3 years or so, he will never be an All Star, period.

This guy sucks this year. He’s absolutely garbage and a huge black hole. He’s where the ball goes to die. He’s just a slightly better version Mo Williams that’s it

He's averaging 21.8 points, 3.5 rbs, 3.2 assists, 37% from 3, 91% from the FT and people still are hating on him. Fuck this fan base man.

His overall field goal percentage is 40%, grades out as the teams worst defender, and has a negative VORP. Making the money he does, he has to be held to a higher standard.

I didn't know that; was that in the post game pressers? Was that the gameplan in general or specifically for the last play?

Dame had 7 TO’s. That’s why we lost.

you've got stats...I've got stats...among the Blazer rotation players, CJ is 6th in PER, 7th in TS%, 8th in offensive box plus/minus, and dead last in winshare/48, defensive box plus/minus, box plus minus, and value over replacement

that's one side of the coin, the other side is that

    * he's 2nd on the team in FGA averaging 20.2 a game. That's 23% of Portland's shots. Dame only averages 0.5 mores shots a game, but scores 8 more points

    * he's 2nd on the team in usage rate at 28.4%

    * he's 2nd on the team in salary at over 25.5M/year

    * you listed his 3.2 assists but failed to mention his 3.2 turnovers. That's a notable and biased omission

in other words, CJ burns thru 23% of Portland's shots, over 28% of Portland's possessions when he on the floor, and 25% of the salary cap, yet he's about the worst on the team statistically, and at this point has been a heavy net negative

now, what do all these numbers, your and mine mean? practically nothing at this stage of the season. For sure CJ won't continue to play like one of the worst players and biggest ball-hogs in the league. But one thing the numbers do mean is when people say CJ has been playing like warmed over shit, and added to the factors of his salary and usage, what those people saying is correct. Saying "fuck the fan-base" for that seems a bit loony

    LOL...c'mon man

Dame's 33 points, 9 assists and .953 TS% are the only reasons Portland even had a chance to win

I see two outliers - in very different ways - Dame & CJ. One very good, one not so.

CJ is a better player than Leonard but people hated on Leonard because he wasn't living up to his relatively high contract. Unless something changes with CJ, we have another of those contracts on our hands. He's not living up to the contract he was just given. At this rate, at some point I expect him to appear on one of those "Worst Contracts" lists.

Again, not that CJ is overall a bad player, but he is not the player his contract suggests.

Patience, my friends. History tells me CJ will get back to normal shortly...

(While recent history tells me CJ will get injured shortly...)

It's almost like a rerun of last year as McCollum started out slow and the complaints came flying, but without him last year we would have struggled to make the playoffs and no way do we make it to the finals. Probably the most under appreciated player on this team.

After how last season ended with Nurk getting hurt, I laugh at anyone thinking they know what would have happened without a certain player. In the regular season the Blazers were 9-2 without McCollum.

The problem (obviously in my opinion) is compounded by having what I think is a superior player, especially as a shooting guard, Anfernee Simons, being denied a starting spot and playing time because of McCollum's salary and veteran status. It's a double whammy.

It's called an educated assumption based on observation. You can disagree all you want as that's certainly your prerogative. Also, those 9 wins were against some bad teams as well and wasn't against competition that we would see in the playoffs. Some stats just don't paint an accurate picture.
