Stern: I did tell Billy that that proposal has the support of the chairman of committee, Adam and me and Glen Taylor, chair of BOG.

 

Stern: "We don't expect them to like every aspect of our revised proposal. There are teams that don't like every aspect."

 

Stern, asked if this is last, best offer: "We took pains out of respect to the efforts of everybody not to characterize it that way."

I'm guessing all the owners, outside NY/LA, like the offer.

 

Stern: We have made our revised proposal and we're not planning to make another one.

 

Stern: This is the best attempt by the labor relations committee, and thus the NBA, to address their concerns.

 

Stern: "My hopes is the events of next week leads us to a 72 game season on Dec. 15."

 

Asked how confident he is, Stern said he would not presume what union would do. But, "I can hope"...

 

Silver: "It will require moving the playoffs ... [#NBA] Finals back a week."

FYI, one of those NBA backchannel folks that indicated a deal would be done told me season would start on Dec. 15...which Stern just said.

 

Silver: Playoffs and Finals would be moved back a week under revised schedule. There will be short free agency, training camp & preseason.

 

David Stern: "It would have been mean-spirited to just drop new proposal on them if they in fact requested to meet."

 

Stern: There has to be a time when you're done negotiating.

 

Stern: We have done everything possible given our joint goals of having a sond economic model and having a competitive league.

 

Stern: We moved as far as we could move and now we're at where we are at.

 

Stern: we have both done everything possible that it's possible to do...I am optimistic owners will approve if union approves it

 

Stern: "I think both sides would like to start the season Dec. 15." Stern added NBA "very much" wants to do revised proposal.

 

So we take another break in the NBA talks. Player reps will come to NY by Mon or Tues to see if they can take this deal.

 

Stern: events caused both of us to focus on getting the deal done...

 

Biggest question will be how costly does the NBA's revised offer make it for teams who cross the luxury tax threshold. Huge issue.
