Silver: we believe we will be proven right that new system will be better...but I recognize players don't see changes in their self interest

 

Deals typically done when both sides see something they don't like but could live with. Hunter and Stern both sound that way tonight.

 

Stern: We made several well-intentioned efforts to move to them across a variety of concerns.

 

It sounded like Fisher, Hunter want to dissect the offer w/player reps and try to negotiate more. Stern indicating negotiations are over.

 

Adam Silver w/the key words: "in order for us to have the competitive balance we want it restricts player movement to a certain degree"

 

I love it! The players are trying anything they can so they have the freedom to form "superteams" in three cities.

I like how the new system is shaping up.

 

That was Silver's best moment. And his answer was excellent.

 

Expect more injuries this year.

The owners' offer is a 50-50 BRI split, sources say. But early indications are, not as meaningfully different on system as Stern portrayed.

 

Owners tweaked sign-and-trades for tax teams, forbidden under previous proposal, "slightly," source says.
