Ken Berger.......... Stern: "We think it's getting to be an important time and it was a good idea to have larger committees."
Board of Governors scheduled to meet Thursday. Asked what he hopes to tell full board, Stern said, "I'll tell you on Thursday."
Derek Fisher: Union officials will meet with players in Las Vegas next week to get feedback on what's been negotiated so far.
David Aldridge......... Stern also said no vote authorizing cancellation of games and/or training camps will be taken at next Thursday's Board of Governors meeting.
Re: League and union agreed to bring full committees to New York Awesome! Because the more committee members you have the easier it is to get everyone to agree... woot.
Fisher, Silver Considered Pivotal In Unifying Respective Sides Adam Silver and Derek Fisher are expected to be the two strongest voices in convincing a larger group on how to move forward following a key meeting on Tuesday when the owners may make a formal offer. While David Stern and Billy Hunter have been through several CBA negotiations int he past, Silver and Fisher are relative newcomers with rising influence in their ranks. Silver has been with the NBA since 1992 and is being groomed as Stern's successor as commissioner. "With Adam, I think David has been clear that he wants him to have a more prominent role," a person who has negotiated with both men said. Fisher became president of the NBPA in 2006. Fisher has immersed himself in the business side of the NBA. "Derek's been on all sides of it," one prominent agent said. "He's made big money and he's made little money. He's been around a long time. He's kind of the perfect guy to have the job that he has." Both the owners and players have a diverse set of constituents with competing agenda despite being on the same side of negotiations. Re: League and union agreed to bring full committees to New York Chris Broussard........... Things that make u go hmmm....NBA deputy commish Adam Silver attending Thursday's US Open with Casey Wasserman, head of Wasserman Media Grp
Re: League and union agreed to bring full committees to New York Wasserman's top agent is Arn Tellum, and the NBA agents are pushing hard for decertification of the union. strange "court'' fellows ndeed
Report: Silver Attends U.S. Open With Wasserman Sep 11, 2011 1:32 PM EDT Adam Silver attended the U.S. Open on Thursday with Cassey Wasserman, CEO of Wasserman Media Group. Wasserman Media Group is one of the most influential agencies in the NBA and includes Arn Tellem. Tellem is believed to be a strong advocate of a capitalize system that is less restrictive than the previous agreement and is in favor of deceritifcation. Representatives from teams, including coaches and GMs, are not allowed to be in contact with players during the lockout. Re: League and union agreed to bring full committees to New York The source is Chris Broussard's tweet. http://twitter.com/#!/Chris_Broussard SI's Sam Amick explained the background. Silver socialized with Wasserman, not Tellum. The last sentence below is hard to follow, but in it Amick speculates that progress must be happening if such a meeting happened. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/writers/sam_amick/09/11/impact.league.vegas/
The players seem too desperate to hold out for an entire season. Most NBA players go bankrupt even in good times.... When those games start getting canceled that will put extra pressure on the union. In this financial climate the owners are right to ask for more.
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/writers/sam_amick/09/11/impact.league.vegas/index.html ...one league source claims that union president Derek Fisher text-messaged numerous players last week indicating that some progress had been made and imploring them to be physically prepared just in case the season started on time.
^My bad yuzazuzazau, I just noticed you posted this elsewhere......... move along, there's nothing to see here.
Who knows who is telling the truth and who's not! @derekfisher while the reports of my texts are false, I will say that I have & will continue to urge our players to stay ready for a season.
