Hunter: "Unfortunately what we have to do is miss more games for this to set in... We are on a slippery slope."
Hunter: "Philosophically, it's a real large gap between the groups." He added NBA wants pre-condition of 50-50 BRI to meet again.
Hunter: "Let us say on the record we are ready to negotiate at any time. But we don't want any pre-conditions though."
KBergCBS Ken Berger Kessler says union was told Paul Allen was at meeting "to express the views of the other members of the Board of Governors."
Subtext: "I'm talking really tough to give my union members the appearance that we actually have any leverage or power ... but damn I hope these guys don't wise up or I'm out of a job."

Do you remember that game show that Howie Mandell did with the models holding suitcases? I can't remember the name but this statement reminds me of a lot of the people that played the game. They'd always keep going to win the highest remaining dollar amount left even if the odds were completely against them. They'd gotten that far and were determined to "finish" what they started. Meanwhile they were shooting themselves in the foot everytime a suitcase was opened after a certain point because they just kept losing money by being greedy.
