After talking to the media, Fisher and Hunter huddled for some time in a quiet hallway. Plenty to discuss.

Have to believe sides will be back at the table, likely early next week. Too much work has been done to just walk away now.

It was the players' impression that league would move on BRI split. Owners believed players would. Thus, kablooey.

I think 50/50 is fair and i think that if you are over the Cap you should not be able to sign more mid level players. So i am on the owners side there.

I probably lean towards the players when it comes to the hard cap and the luxory tax penalties.

Based on Hunter's account, corroborated by sources, league characterized its position on players' share as 47, but willing to go to 50.

Remember the semantics kids. #NBA not really canceling games, they're canceling "time". November was gone already. Meaningless announcement.

Hunter said nothing changed from "take it or leave it" on 50-50 last week. "We told them we're leaving it, just like we left it before."

So, #NBA players will lose roughly $170 million in salary today ($340M total) as another 2 weeks gets canceled

That was an EGO statement. These guys all have huge egos. Both the owners and the players. It helps in their line of work, but it hurts in negotiations. At least for the fans.

Hunter straight up walked out on them. Stern seemed pissed.

I'm a basketball fanatic so I'll definetely come back to follow teams and watch the NBA on TV regardless.

But this has pissed me off enough to where I don't want to put down even $1 for tickets. I used to buy a few $100+ tickets a year but I won't be this next season. Just assume leave the Rose Garden empty. Rather not see my money directly going to either players or owners.

I do hope we at least get a 50 game season out of the deal, but I really don't care terribly much until football ends.

The owners should come out publicly and say for every percentage point under 50% BRI we will reduce ticket prices by 5%.

The players would agree to 50% immediately.

Paul Coro: For more discouraging news, Stern said the NBA's next offer will reflect the losses that are starting to pile up. Gloom and doom is back.

    .....

Owners being dicks because they have all the leverage

Billy Hunter - "We don't want a hard cap."

Fuck. This is something I actually want to see.

Sounds like Billy Hunter is saying players made a lot of concessions on system issues but owners still wouldn't move on BRI.

    Leverage.....leverage.....

Stern said labor relations committee met by phone after talks broke off. That's why it took him so long to appear at news conference.
