I like a basic formula of this off the bench for a shorter rotation True PG (Napier?) sg/sf (Turner?) Bigger pf/c preferably 6'10"+ (?) Then a 4th post (could be SF/PF) and likely an additional wing that balances the 1st wing off the bench, but these 2 are small minute guys. The starters I like now, but our bench is pretty unbalanced based on my formula, which admittedly is pretty debatable, players I would like in those backup roles are also going to change how the other players impact the game as well. Example, I would love Rubio as our backup PG, but you can't have Rubio and Turner playing extensive minutes together off the bench.
I am pretty sure the only way we sign a player using the MLE this summer is if we have some kind of immediate salary dump trade we are able to pull off.
But less consistent, no? I think Patty's consistency is more valuable than Lins inconsistency even if he has better stats once in a while
Next year's salaries are gonna be crazy for PGs with CP and Steph coming up. Here's my estimation of what the highest PGs will get: CP- 40 mil Steph - 40 mil Lowry- eligible for 40 mil Thomas - 36 mil Conley - 31 mil Dame's 26 mil will look like a bargain. George Hill will probably get 25+ mil/ yr. Paying Patty 12-15/per is not out of the realm of possibilities.
At this stage of his career, I wouldn't give CP3 that much money. No thanks. Lowry isn't worth it either.
If San Antonio offers Patty a contract that is within 5-7m of other teams offer, I don't think he leaves that team.
one of Aminu and Harkless should go. Both have appeal to other teams, but are redundant on ours. I keep going back and forth who I'd rather trade, but I think I'd rather trade Aminu. This is of course assuming we can't trade Turner. I'd trade him before either one, and I actually like Turner.
I'm gonna make 2 wild predictions: New Orleans is gonna dump a ton of salary on the Kings and reward them with 2 first round picks. Asik, Hill, Moore, Ajinca, Pondexter, Cunningham. This will leave them with Cousins, Davis, Frazier, Crawford, Diallo and Holiday ($15M cap hold). With these guys, they'll have $42M or so in cap space. Chris Paul will return to New Orleans. So will David West. They'll then sign a 3-and-D guy (Sefolosha?) and another SF. Paul / Frazier Holiday / Crawford Sefelosha / Vet Min SF Davis / West Cousins / Vet Min C They'll be loaded. Meanwhile, the Lakers trade Clarkson, Mozgov, Deng and Zubac to the Nets as a cap dump. They then trade Ingram, Randle, their 2017/2018 1st, and their 2020 first to Chicago for Jimmy Butler and Dwayne Wade. Then they sign Blake Griffin after Paul leaves giving them a Russell, Wade, Butler, Griffin core, with cap space to sign Paul George in the offseason.
with a brand new projected 2017/2018 cap of 101 mil I believe 35 mil is the most a 10 yr plus vet can make, how did U get 40 mil? Even 35 mil for ONE player is wacko IMO as its about 35% of the teams salary cap
It'd sure be fun to be a fly on the wall during Paul and Boogie's first attempt to make amends. That team could use a floor general to keep everyone on the same page though. I keep thinking that Paul/Lebron/Carmelo will happen eventually, but who knows. I'd love to dump Crabbe on them, they need shooting badly.
