THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY vs oregon ducks

All about the QB. If Brown plays well, Ducks have great chance. Tons of talent on both sides. Shannon Sharpe once said, "you've got a Ferrari", "Just don't strip the gears".

Turnovers and big plays can always flip a game like this, but Ohio St is still the more talented team, with the better in-game coach, playing at home... Ohio St wins this 9 times out of 10 in my opinion.

Yeah I'm still not of the opinion we're a team that can beat Ohio State. Too many Rose Bowls where Ohio State owned us in the trenches. Our recent recruiting wins hopefully turn the tide in that respect.

Our recent recruiting wins would be a down year for Ohio State…

I think CFB is increasingly Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State and then everyone else

those are essentially d league college football teams.

could they win, sure but I agree with the other poster 9/10 times Ohio state wins.

no way we don’t murder Fresno state tho

OSU will continue its historical dominance over the Ducks!

...Ohio State will win the football game by double digits too :devilwink:

lol...and the beaver fans show up

there are always OSU fans rooting for Duck losses in Duck threads. Rarely Oregon fans rooting for Beaver losses in Beaver threads. I'm a Duck fan and I'll usually root for the Beavers, especially if they are playing Washington, USC, or Arizona. Was pulling for them last week against Purdue

by the way, I think the odds are about 80% the Buckeyes will roll. The strength of the Oregon defense was the LB's and it's possible the Ducks will be missing 3 of their starting LB's tomorrow....Thibedeaux, Mathis, and Flowe

Go Ducks! Looking forward to being able to watch this game (yeah finally a game not on PAC12 network).

Always been a Beaver but root for the Ducks except when they play the Beavers (or Boise State).

Not expecting a win but hoping the Ducks only lose to one OSU this year and not the one from the other side of the country.

That's what Ducks fans try to say in a big brother way. "Little bro is no threat to me"

Usually pretty condescending.

I grew up a Ducks fan. Went to OSU. By my junior year I could not stand the Ducks anymore because of their arrogant attitudes and shithead fans that would come into Corvallis.
Actually I just like both teams. I like the Ducks better, but I root for the Beavs against everyone else.

It would be like a Lakers fan telling you they like the Blazers. Or when someone from Seattle tells you they like how small and cute Portland is.

I'm not following you...are you saying that Duck fans who say they can root for the beavers are lying or something? And when they say it they are being condescending? I'm kind of confused about your point

I was born in Oregon and lived almost all my life here. Almost exclusively in the Willamette Valley. Graduated from high school in 1970. My senior year, I had pretty much decided that I was going to go to OSU. just about at the end of the process, I was glancing thru the OSU catalogue and noticed that the co-ed population was 66% male. Whoa says I! So, I looked at my second choice, the UofO and noticed the co-ed population was 58% female. Decision made

yeah, I'll admit it....I was un-serious enough about my higher education that I chose a school based on a much better ratio of gals to guys. Most of the hot gals from my high school planning on college (all 9 of them) were going to the UofO, so that was another check mark. One went to Stanford but she was about 3 tiers smarter than anybody else so she didn't count. Wasn't hot either

anyway, most of my buddies went to OSU and I visited them regularly. Never got into the beaver hate-mode. Still remember that '67 Giant Killer team with Steve Preece, Dick Enyart, and Billy Main. Loved the Fiesta Bowl when Erickson's Beaver team crushed Notre Dame. Really enjoyed watching Ralph Miller's basketball teams. Still remember that team with Ray Blume, Mark Radford, Steve Johnson and Rob Holbrook. Cheered on the beaver baseball team when they were in the college world series. Fan of Oregon, the university, but also Oregon the state. Beavers get a little of that love

Always found these sweeping generalizations used as justifications interesting.

In my experience, about 5% of fans can be obnoxious, 10% of fans are over the top nice, and 85% do nothing noticable. Personally, I don't use 10's or even 100's of fans as my barometer for who I root for. Specifically, twitter or message board fans have zero impact on who I root for.

I went to OSU and saw it with my own eyes. I grew up a Ducks fan. It isn't only message board or twitter.

Ducks fans are arrogant bastards.

Did you go to UO or OSU?

I've attended both. Graduated from Oregon. First ever football games as a kid were OSU games, but the majority now are Oregon games.

Let's say there are 1,000,000 people who consider themselves Beaver fans, I've probably had a personal interaction of any note with 1000 of them, or 0.1%. Just for me personally, that's not a big enough sample size for me to love or hate the Beavers. I root for them because I like the school, campus, I like to see local schools have success, and I have a bunch of friends who are die-hards. Now, if Oregon St winning is going to keep Oregon out of the Rose Bowl, I'm going to root against them because the Ducks are my #1 team.

I'm not trying to convince you to change your mindset. I've never had any luck trying to convince someone to modify their dislike of a very large group of people, whether that be because of sex, race, religion, etc. Sports is no different, we're very fanatical. I commented because your logic of "I hate team <x> because their fans <y>" is a very standard formula I see used and it's never made sense to me.

Either way, I have nothing personal against you, nor does your stance on Duck fans change the way I think about the Beavers, I'll be rooting for them to beat the Rainbow for the reasons I listed in my previous post.

Ohio State going to roll the Ducks unfortunately. Oregon won’t score enough to keep pace. All those athletes and 4/5 star studs and they are the most vanilla offense. So frustrating.

I'm with you on this.

Yes Oregon roster is young and the majority of the 4/5 stars on the roster are freshman or sophomores, but on paper, these are the most talented Oregon teams in school history. What we see on the field doesn't match the recruting rankings.

Fans arguing who is more arrogant is like listening to Republicans and Democrats debate who is more hypocritical.
As a Duck grad I hate when others are arrogant, but I am old enough to remember how fucking obnoxious Beaver fans were in the 80's in basketball.
And don't get me started on Husky Fans.......

As far as 5* athletes......let me know how many are on the field tomorrow. Especially if Thibs and Flowe are out as many are saying.
Reading about the Ducks with Blazers fans is about as annoying as reading about the Blazers on a Duck messageboard.

I’m over Mario as a coach. Great recruiter no question. Game day though is hard to watch most of the time.
