Trier leads No. 12 Arizona to 90-60 win over Bradley

Allonzo Trier lost a defender with a wicked crossover and scored at the rim in the first half. He did it again in the second, this time hanging in the air before finishing off another three-point play.

Arizona's talented freshman has a short memory -- and a lot of game.

Trier scored 22 points and made all 14 of his free throws to bounce back from a shaky-shooting debut, helping the 12th-ranked Wildcats pull away for a 90-60 win over Bradley on Monday night.

Tyrone Wallace leads No. 15 Cal past UC Santa Barbara 85-67

Jaylen Brown made a steal and drove all the way for a highlight-reel, left-handed dunk, providing a glimpse of the special player California added in its recruiting class along with local star Ivan Rabb.

Afterward, Brown had something else on his mind besides the spectacular slam: four turnovers.

"What I need to concentrate more on is the turnovers and do a better job of finding my teammates," the freshman said.

"Smart man," coach Cuonzo Martin said.

Tyrone Wallace had 24 points and six assists, and Brown added 17 points and seven rebounds to lead No. 15 Cal past UC Santa Barbara 85-67 on Monday night.

No. 25 Oregon enters poll, beats No. 20 Baylor 74-67

Oregon coach Dana Altman didn't know what was in store for his freshly ranked team when the quality of competition cranked up with No. 20 Baylor in town Monday night.

What he learned was that until the offense clicks, defense will have to be the Ducks' calling card.

Chris Boucher and Elgin Cook both scored 15 points to lead No. 25 Oregon over the Bears 74-67 in a matchup of NCAA Tournament teams from last season.

No. 16 Utah beats Texas Tech 73-63 in Puerto Rico Tipoff

Utah coach Larry Krystkowiak pushed his team to play tougher after a first half in which they squandered much of a 12-point lead and couldn't keep Texas Tech off the boards.

The second half was more what the fifth-year coach expects from the No. 16 Utes.

Lorenzo Bonam scored a season-high 20 points and Utah held off Texas Tech 73-63 on Thursday night in the opening round of the Puerto Rico Tipoff.

York's 23 points lead No. 12 Arizona past Boise State 88-76

Sean Miller says one thing is obvious about this Arizona team. Its defense is not as good as his teams of the recent past.

So the No. 12 Wildcats have to make up for it elsewhere.

That's what they did in an 88-76 victory over Boise State on Thursday night.

Sloppy Bears hold off pesky Pirates 70-62

California coach Cuonzo Martin was glad to finally see his team play against a zone defense, even if the Golden Bears couldn't get into a steady offensive flow.

It's part of the growing process for Martin's young squad, and he expects to see a lot more of the zone until the Bears prove capable of handling it.

Ivan Rabb had 14 points and 13 rebounds, Jaylen Brown added 16 points and 10 rebounds and No. 15 California beat East Carolina 70-62 in the Las Vegas Invitational on Friday night.

Boucher helps No. 25 Oregon beat Savannah State 75-59

Oregon coach Dana Altman had a simple message for his team after its third straight victory.

The Ducks aren't good enough to take plays off, regardless of the opponent, and the next one packs a wallop.

Chris Boucher scored 17 points, Elgin Cook had 12 points and eight rebounds and No. 25 Oregon beat Savannah State 75-59 on Friday night.

Arizona downs Northwestern State for 42nd straight home win

With senior leader Ryan Anderson out with a sore ankle, No. 12 Arizona got timid and bogged down offensively. It was up toGabe York to preserve the nation's longest home winning streak.

York scored 10 of his 18 points in a key second-half spurt, and Arizona beat undermanned Northwestern State 61-42 on Sunday night.

No. 14 California beats Sam Houston State 89-63

California made it through the warmup act unscathed. Now the Golden Bears get to see how good they really are when they get their first true tests of the season.

Brooks' big game leads No. 15 Oregon over Fresno State 78-73

If bad things tend to happen in threes as many believe, Oregon coach Dana Altman can only hope his team has gotten letting big leads nearly slip away out of its system.

Dillon Brooks had 21 points and 10 rebounds and the 15th-ranked Ducks staved off a late rally by Fresno State for a 78-73 victory Monday night.

Year after embarrassing loss, UCLA dominates No. 1 Kentucky in rematch

Steve Alford barely mentioned last year's 83-44 drubbing by Kentucky and showed no video of it in preparing UCLA for the rematch.

The memory was already seared in the minds of the players who endured the humiliation.

Alford's main message was a boxing analogy: "If you want to play it, we got to come to fight."

The Bruins came out punching and landed a knockout blow, upsetting the Wildcats 87-77 on Thursday night for their first victory over a No. 1 team since 2003.

No. 13 Arizona races away from Missouri in 88-52 blowout

Kadeem Allen poked the ball free, chased it down and headed toward the opposite end of the court. Glancing over his left shoulder, he saw Gabe York trailing with a clear path to the basket.

Instead of taking on the lone defender by himself, Allen flipped the ball toward the front of the rim, where York seemed to fly in from the rafters to throw down an alley-oop that brought the McKale Center crowd to its feet with a roar.

"I've been waiting for that for a long time," York said after No. 13 Arizona rolled over Missouri 88-52 Sunday night.

Utah knocks off No. 7 Duke in Big Apple

Utah coach Larry Krystkowiak says the Utes weren't fixated on avenging an Elite Eight loss to Duke in March.

That doesn't mean the Utes aren't savoring the 77-75 upset of No. 7 Duke at Madison Square Garden on Saturday. Kyle Kuzma scored 21 points to lead Utah (9-2), and Jakob Poeltl had 19 points and 14 rebounds before fouling out with 31 seconds left in overtime.

No. 13 Arizona outlasts UNLV for 82-70 victory

Arizona's balance makes it a difficult team to defend. Stop one aspect of the Wildcats' offense, they can turn to another, just-as-effective player to lead them in scoring.

With UNLV center Stephen Zimmerman limited due to an injury, it was Dusan Ristic's turn to take over.

Ristic scored 16 of his career-high 20 points in the first half, and No. 13 Arizona took advantage of Zimmerman's absence in the middle on its way to an 82-70 victory over the Rebels on Saturday night.

Huskies overcome Bruins, Bryce Alford's 3s to force both OT periods

Through all the whistles and an avalanche of fouls, Andrew Andrews and Washington remained resilient and earned a memorable start to conference play.

Andrews matched his career high with 35 points, including five straight points midway through the second overtime, and Washington held on to beat No. 25 UCLA 96-93 in double overtime Friday night in a game that featured 64 fouls, 90 free throws and more drama than anyone expected.
