No. 11 Arizona overwhelms Wyoming in first half of 94-65 win



The ball shot up the court like a rock skipping across water, one pass to the next until it reached an open shooter. There were dunks, 3-pointers, pull-up jumpers, quick dump-ins to the post. Most went in.

The key: Arizona's defense.

Overwhelming Wyoming with a smothering defense, the No. 11 Wildcats outclassed the Cowboys in the first half on the way to a 94-65 win on Wednesday night.

Jaquez scores 24 in No. 4 UCLA's 67-56 win over Marquette



No. 4 UCLA's biggest scare of the weekend came the night before its actual game against Marquette, when its private chartered flight to Milwaukee was diverted to Denver due to a cracked windshield.

"We had to land as fast as possible," UCLA coach Mick Cronin said. "We were able to do that. We're all fortunate. We all know how fortunate we are."

The Bruins flew out of Denver early Saturday morning and landed in Milwaukee at about 10 a.m., feeling grateful.

"We didn't realize the severity until after," Jaime Jaquez Jr. said. "We didn't know how bad it really was. Thankfully by the grace of God, we all got (in) safe."

Originally scheduled at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, the game was pushed back by seven hours. UCLA showed up, especially Jaquez, who had 24 points and 11 rebounds, in a 67-56 win over Marquette.

No. 16 USC beats Long Beach State 73-62, improves to 10-0



Southern California played the first half before realizing an age-old axiom in college basketball: Don't underestimate your opponent, no matter who they are.

Led by Isaiah Mobley's 21 points and 12 rebounds, the 16th-ranked Trojans pulled away at the beginning of the second half on their way to a 73-62 victory over Long Beach State on Sunday.

Goodwin, No. 10 USC rally in 2nd half to beat UC Irvine



Chevez Goodwin scored a season-high 23 points, Isaiah Mobley added 22 points and 12 rebounds, and No. 10 Southern California rallied from a 10-point deficit to beat UC Irvine 66-61 on Wednesday night.

No. 8 Arizona pulls away to beat Northern Colorado 101-76



Arizona's free-flowing offense was on point, putting up another night of big numbers. The defense had some shaky moments, allowing Northern Colorado to keep it close well into the second half.

Once the Wildcats put their defensive foot down, they left the Bears stuck in the desert sand.

Christian Koloko had 19 points and blocked four shots, Kerr Kriisa also scored 19 points and No. 8 Arizona used a big late run to beat Northern Colorado 101-76 on Wednesday night.

No. 10 USC knocks off Georgia Tech 67-53 in Phoenix



Southern California passed up shots early, took a few bad ones, threw weak passes that Georgia Tech's players easily picked off.

Once the Trojans became more aggressive, the Yellow Jackets couldn't stop them.

Boogie Ellis scored 16 points, Drew Peterson added 14 and No. 10 USC overcame a shaky start to beat Georgia Tech 67-53 on Saturday in the Colangelo Classic.

Isaiah Mobley had 19 points and nine rebounds and sparked a late surge to help keep No. 7 Southern California unbeaten as the Trojans held off California 77-63 on Thursday night.

Back in action: No. 5 UCLA routs Long Beach State 96-78



Early on, fifth-ranked UCLA looked out of sorts in its return from a 25-day absence caused by COVID-19.

Johnny Juzang, an 87% free-throw shooter, missed his first two at the line. The Bruins missed eight of nine field-goal attempts soon after.

But, eventually, they settled in and the rout was on in a 96-78 victory over Long Beach State on Thursday night. Jules Bernard scored 22 points and Juzang added 18.

No. 6 Arizona pulls away to beat Colorado 76-55



Arizona had a letdown to close the first half, blowing most of a 15-point lead. The Wildcats got the rout going again to start the second half, using their defense to blow past Colorado.

Azoulas Tubelis and Justin Kier scored 14 points, and No. 6 Arizona overwhelmed Colorado in the second half for a 76-55 win Thursday night.

Andy Enfield admits his fifth-ranked Southern California squad is still rusty after a 16-day layoff due to a COVID-19 outbreak. But the Trojans need to make up quickly for lost time, especially during this stretch of three games in five days.

Azoulas Tubelis soared in for a one-handed slam, looked to the crowd and flashed his biceps. Next trip down, same thing.

On a night when Arizona struggled from the perimeter, Tubelis and the Wildcats showed some flex on the inside.

Tubelis scored 32 points, Christian Koloko added 16 points, and No. 6 Arizona dominated Utah inside for an 82-64 win on Saturday night.

It didn't take Johnny Juzang long to realize it was going to be his night.

"I knew pretty early," Juzang said. "My teammates found me early and that got me going."

Good thing for No. 9 UCLA, because he didn't get much help on offense.

Juzang scored a season-high 28 points and the Bruins outlasted Utah 63-58 on Thursday.

UCLA coach Mick Cronin foresaw Colorado's comeback, warning his ninth-ranked Bruins they'd better not let up if they wanted an easy tuneup for next week's showdown against No. 3 Arizona.

"I told the guys we better get up 20," Cronin recounted after the Bruins held off the Buffs 71-65 Saturday night. "But I didn't think it was gonna happen, just so you know."

Drew Peterson felt like he couldn't miss.

"I don't think I've ever shot it like this. I was feeling good and my teammates were finding me," Peterson said.
