Colorado upsets No. 2 Arizona 79-63 with strong second half



Hanging with the Arizona Wildcats for one half wasn't going to cut it for Colorado this time.

About six weeks after watching a four-point halftime deficit in Arizona turn into a blowout, the Buffaloes went into the locker room trailing the Wildcats by five Saturday night and vowed not to let them get away again.

K.J. Simpson and Tristan da Silva led a second-half surge that carried Colorado to a 79-63 upset of the nation's second-ranked team, matching the highest-ranked opponent ever beaten by the Buffaloes.

USC Women’s Basketball Falls 68-59 In Regular-Season Finale At No. 12 Arizona



The USC women's basketball team was powerful out of the gates but was stymied by turnovers in taking a 68-59 loss at No. 12 Arizona today in Tucson. That wraps the regular season for the Trojans, who hold a 12-15 overall record with a 5-12 mark in Pac-12 play entering the coming Pac-12 Tournament. Arizona improves to 20-6, 10-6.

No. 2 Arizona throttles No. 16 USC to win Pac-12 title



A return to regular-season Pac-12 Conference glory for No. 2 Arizona was not an occasion for wild celebrations, loud roars or proud proclamations.

A convincing 91-71 victory over No. 16 Southern California was more of an arm-around-your-shoulder moment as the Wildcats won their first regular-season conference title in four seasons. Arizona used a business-like approach to knock of the second-place Trojans with the help of a little perspective.

No. 2 Arizona pulls away late for 81-69 win over Stanford



Arizona had to rebound from the mental rush of winning the Pac-12 regular-season title against Southern California two nights earlier. The physical toll of long travel delays was an even tougher challenge, causing a sluggish start against a hungry opponent.

The Wildcats fought their way through it to remain undefeated at home in their first season under coach Tommy Lloyd.

Bennedict Mathurin scored 24 points, Christian Koloko added 21 points and 10 rebounds, and No. 2 Arizona overcame a slow start to beat Stanford 81-69 on Thursday night.

Arizona coach Tommy Lloyd was asked earlier this week whether his team would cut down the nets for winning the Pac-12 regular-season championship after Saturday's game against California.

Only if the Wildcats won, he said.

No problem there. No. 2 Arizona closed out its first season under Lloyd in dominating fashion, crushing Cal 89-61 to become the first Pac-12 team to win 18 conference games.
