No. 21 Utah handles slow start, snow and Colorado 30-7

It was the No. 21 Utah Utes who weathered this storm.

"It doesn't bother us a bit," coach Kyle Whittingham said after the Utes rolled to a 30-7 win over Colorado in freezing rain and snow Saturday. "We are up in the mountains in Salt Lake City, so not a problem at all. Our guys handled it very well. It didn't faze them."

No. 17 Washington builds big lead, beats Oregon State 42-23

Chris Petersen thought he'd make it through his pregame speech the night before the final home game for Washington's seniors. Then he looked at quarterback Jake Browning, and Petersen's words trailed off.

"There's no one that's spent more time in this office since the moment he got here," Petersen said. "It's exactly how it's supposed to be and he's a rare individual in terms of never flinching, always the same, always prepping as hard as he possibly can, completely locked in at all times. It's hard to do for anybody let alone a college kid going through this process. (It's) really special."

Browning provided one more memory for Petersen and his teammates in his final home game, throwing three first-half touchdowns in No. 17 Washington's 42-23 win over Oregon State on Saturday.

Minshew's 7 TDs lead No. 8 Washington St over Arizona 69-28

This record-setting season just keeps getting better for Gardner Minshew.

Washington State's star quarterback broke a school mark with seven touchdown passes and the No. 8 Cougars routed Arizona 69-28 on Saturday night to boost their longshot bid for a spot in the College Football Playoff.

Snow Dawgs: No. 16 Washington topples No. 7 Wazzu 28-155

Chris Petersen walked away from the party happening in the end zone where the Apple Cup was being passed around by his players for the sixth straight year. He reached down and grabbed a chunk of the snow that blanketed the turf of Martin Stadium and fired back at the snowballs being flung his way from his two sons.

There was plenty of celebrating by Washington's coach and his players -- snow angels, snowball fights -- after the Huskies continued their dominance over Washington State in an Apple Cup the purple and gold won't soon forget.

"I've heard it sucks to lose to the Cougs. I'm glad I don't have to experience it," Washington quarterback Jake Browning said.

Myles Gaskin broke free for an 80-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter, and No. 16 Washington won its second Pac-12 North Division title in three years, beating No. 7 Washington State 28-15 on Friday night.

No. 17 Utah rallies to top rival BYU 35-27

Dramatic fourth-quarter comebacks are becoming second nature to Utah.

Two weeks after rallying against Oregon in the final minutes, the No. 18 Utes did it again against BYU on Saturday, scoring 28 unanswered points in the final 16 minutes and beating the Cougars 35-27.

Eason beats out Haener for Washington QB job

The Washington Huskies have named quarterback Jacob Eason, a transfer from Georgia, as their starter to open the 2019 season, coach Chris Petersen told reporters Friday.

While Eason got the starting nod, Petersen said sophomore Jake Haener, who appeared in four games for Washington last season, also will play in the opener against Eastern Washington on Aug. 31.

Moss runs for TD, No. 14 Utah beats BYU 30-12 in opener

Utah's defense picked up where it left off last season. BYU paid a steep price for it.

The No. 14 Utes scored three touchdowns off three BYU turnovers to pull away for a 30-12 victory on Thursday night in the opener for both teams. Utah left no doubt about how strong its defense could be this season.

Costello gets hurt in No. 25 Stanford's win vs Northwestern

With star quarterback K.J. Costello knocked out of the season opener, No. 25 Stanford had to rely on its defense and running game to get the win in the season opener.

Costello threw a 2-yard touchdown pass before getting hurt on a late hit and the Cardinal used four turnovers and an improved running game to hold off injury plagued Northwestern 17-7 on Saturday.

Eason throws for 4 TDs, No. 13 Washington rolls 47-14

Of all the throws Washington's Jacob Eason made playing his first game in nearly two years, the most impressive was one which hit the ground.

It was a heave that traveled 60-plus yards in the air and while it was an incompletion, it showed off the big arm Eason brought back from Georgia and left the home crowd buzzing.

"I swear to you it came from heaven," said Aaron Fuller, the intended receiver on the play. "All I saw was it went into the clouds and then it came down and I was just like `wow."

Eason had more than a few wow moments on Saturday, throwing for 349 yards and four touchdowns, and No. 13 Washington opened the season with a 47-14 win over FCS No. 4 Eastern Washington.
