Stanford wins Pac-12 North behind Ty Montgomery's 5 TDs

Sure, neither the Ducks nor Stanford were done for the day, yet Shaw's team suddenly held some Pac-12 momentum again. Not long after that moment, the 9th-ranked Cardinal had secured their return trip to the conference title game with a 63-13 blowout of Bay Area rival California in the Big Game and Oregon's loss Saturday.

Marcus Mariota ready for Civil War

Oregon's Marcus Mariota, who took a hard hit to the head in this past weekend's 42-16 loss to Arizona, says he has passed all the concussion tests and will play in Friday afternoon's Civil War game against Oregon State.

However, there are still lingering questions about the health of his left knee as the No. 13 Ducks prepare to host the Beavers in the annual rivalry game.

Mariota said he got his "bell rung" while trying to tackle Arizona's Shaquille Richardson on an interception late in the loss to the Wildcats.

Marcus Mariota, Ducks slide past Oregon State in final minute

Marcus Mariota gave Josh Huff all the credit for the 12-yard touchdown pass with 29 seconds left that swung another Civil War rivalry game Oregon's way.

"Quite frankly, it was a bad throw," Mariota said. "Huff made a great catch. I said, 'Thank you, man, that would've looked bad.'"

    Huff laughed.

"It was the best throw he made all year," he said, grinning.

Either way, the No. 13 Ducks came away with a 36-35 victory over Oregon State on Friday night in the 117th edition of the in-state rivalry.

D.J. Foster, Arizona State run over Arizona

Arizona State turned the Territorial Cup into a runaway.

Next up for the Sun Devils is the Pac-12 Championship game, back at home and with a spot in the Rose Bowl on the line.

No. 12 Arizona State dominated rival Arizona with a first-half onslaught and never let up, dismantling the Wildcats 58-21 Saturday night to earn home-field advantage in next week's Pac-12 title game.

Brett Hundley leads UCLA to first win at USC since 1997

The UCLA Bruins stormed the cardinal logo at midfield, posing for photos and whipping blue flags through the crisp evening air. They moved the party up the Coliseum tunnel, roaring and stomping and thrusting their helmets aloft.

Southern California undoubtedly could hear the celebration in its locker room. The Trojans can't do anything about it for a year.

"UCLA runs L.A. now," Brett Hundley said.

Hundley passed for 208 yards and rushed for two touchdowns, leading No. 22 UCLA past No. 23 USC 35-14 Saturday night and winning the crosstown showdown for the second straight season.

    USC introduces Steve Sarkisian

Steve Sarkisian was introduced Tuesday as the new head coach at USC.

"This is home," Sarkisian said in a news conference at the John McKay Center. "I'm proud and honored to be the head coach of this team."

Sarkisian has a strong history at USC from his time as a freshman baseball player in the early 1990's to multiple stints as an assistant coach under Pete Carroll during one of the team's most successful runs.

Jim Mora agrees to UCLA extension

UCLA coach Jim Mora isn't going anywhere.

The school announced Tuesday it has reached agreement with Mora on a six-year contract extension that goes through the 2019 season.

The Bruins are coming off their second straight victory over USC in the schools' rivalry game, and Mora had been linked to the opening at Washington.

Stanford wins Pac-12 title, headed to Rose Bowl

Stanford's players stood on the makeshift stage in the end zone, waving red roses as coach David Shaw accepted the Pac-12 championship trophy.

After all the Cardinal had been through this season, they earned a chance to repeat as Rose Bowl champions.

This trip to Pasadena might be even sweeter than the first one.

Tyler Gaffney ran for 133 yards and scored three touchdowns in a dominating first half, leading No. 7 Stanford back to the Rose Bowl with a 38-14 victory over No. 11 Arizona State in the Pac-12 title game Saturday night.

Silas Redd likely to miss bowl game

USC senior tailback Silas Redd will likely miss the Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl because of a knee injury.

Redd suffered the original injury to his right knee after landing awkwardly at the end of a run against Cal on Nov. 9. He sat out games against Stanford and Colorado before returning against UCLA with five carries for 25 yards.

    ASU's Michael Eubank to transfer

Arizona State backup quarterback Michael Eubank plans to transfer to another school.

Coach Todd Graham said after practice Friday that he will help Eubank in the search for a new team.

The 6-foot-6, 246-pound quarterback was used mostly in short-yardage situations by the Sun Devils, including a notable failure on a goal-line sneak in the Pac-12 championship game against Stanford.

Cody Kessler-led USC blows out Fresno State in Las Vegas Bowl

Cody Kessler realizes Southern California could have quit on this season after the Trojans' first head coach was fired.

Or after their second head coach resigned.

Or before their fourth head coach in less than three months took over.

The quarterback and his Trojans simply stuck together, no matter who happened to be in charge. That tenacity got them a blowout win over a BCS contender in the Las Vegas Bowl -- and the confidence that USC is back on the rise after a roller coaster of a season.

Kessler passed for a career-high 344 yards and a bowl-record four touchdowns in the Trojans' 45-20 victory over No. 21 Fresno State on Saturday night under interim coach Clay Helton.

USC to pursue Ed Orgeron again

Steve Sarkisian became USC's fourth coach in the past four months but would like to have USC's two interim coaches this season on his staff next season.

Sarkisian said on Sunday he will reach out to Ed Orgeron, who went 6-2 as USC's interim head coach, and ask him to be a part of his coaching staff next season.

Clay Helton, who served as USC's third coach this season during the Trojans' 45-20 win over Fresno State in the Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl on Saturday, has already committed to returning to USC next season.

Rashaad Reynolds, Oregon St. rough up Boise St. in Hawaii Bowl

Rashaad Reynolds and Oregon State made the most of their final chance to stop a costly losing streak.

Reynolds returned two fumbles for touchdowns, helping the Beavers beat Boise State 38-23 in the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl on Tuesday night.

Oregon State won six of its first seven games of the season. Then a 20-12 home loss to then-No. 8 Stanford started a five-game slide that came to an end when the Beavers (7-6) set several records in handing Boise State its worst loss in two months.

    Colt Lyerla pleads guilty

Former Oregon tight end Colt Lyerla plead guilty to cocaine possession Friday, a move that will allow him to train for the NFL scouting combine.

Lyerla was sentenced to 10 days in jail with another 10 days suspended, the Eugene Register-Guard reported. He was also put on probation to the court and told to enroll in a drug treatment program.

Earlier this month, a judge denied Lyerla's request to train in Las Vegas for the combine while awaiting trial. With his plea, he will be able to get himself ready after serving his sentence.
