    I remember the one and only time I was ever carded. I had just turned 21 and wanted to go to this topless bar, the first one ever in Portland. It was called the Longhorn and was somewhere in NE Portland near the airport. They wanted all my ID which included a copy of my birth certificate, an airline ID card called the 12/21 card which showed I was 21, my driver's license and my military ID card. They then laid all this ID on a counter had me sit next to it and took a picture which included me and my ID. Talk about cautious, I think they were the most cautious of anyone ever. Try to show me an example of a proprietor who was more cautious.

    Meanwhile, down in Tampa Florida, when I was 19 I was able to go through a drive through vending machine late at night behind a building where no one could see and buy as many cans of beer as I wanted for 25 cents each.

    Never had my ID checked at a grocery store. Never. Oh wait, I had my ID checked at a MLB game in Seattle when I was 40. That was pretty weird.

    Yes, redundant was the wrong term, it's more of a dependency. You can't have a loop without a hole, but you can have a hole (hole in the head, hole in the wall, hole in the ground, etc.) without a loop.

    If you carefully eat around the loop, eating the entire loop, but leaving the hole undisturbed, the hole disappears, or expands to infinity, depending on your point of view.
