This is the part that got to me.

"Bruh, not being a Top Five guy was the best thing that ever happened to me. Thank God I didn’t go 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Because who was at six?

    Who was at six?
    Portland.
    My city.
    My people.

I’m saying, you think you know how deep this goes, but you have no idea. When I say that I will never, ever switch up on the city of Portland, I mean what I say. When I say that I will never, ever switch up on this organization, I mean what I say."

He could retire today, and I'd still say he's the best ever. I cannot think of a single player who EVER referred to Portland as "my city", even the ones who grew up here.

And it's not spin, because he's had plenty of chances to leave.

^ To be fair, though, someone as loyal as Dame would likely say the same about whatever team/city drafted and embraced him.

Still the same trait of loyalty. We are the lucky ones.

I feel like we fit his personality to a tee, though.

And one more thing I never heard no one talking about. I believe he will be great Blazers head coach after he get those rings.

I ran into an old friend today who knew me back when I was allowed to bring the Blazers cakes at games. He asked if I'd make Dame a cake if it were allowed. I told him I'd make a whole damn holiday dinner.

Perhaps, but he's equally loyal to Ogden and Oakland, and beyond the O-connection, I'm not sure the three could be any different. I think he would be 100% loyal to whoever drafted him.

Have to confess I was a tad unkind to my friend. When he asked if I was going to go see the Warriors in their new arena, I asked him why I should schlep to San Francisco to see the worst team in the NBA,?
