I'm wondering why monies earmarked for the implementation/expansion of mail-in voting capabilities belongs in a coronavirus stimulus bill?

Because there is an increased demand for mail in ballots due to the coronavirus.

This....this hurts people in rural communities alot...defunding the Postal Service is purely political to upset mail in voting....yet the asshole wants more wall money...he doesn't give a shit about the working class in america...not one shit. Our maillady has driven our route for over 22 years and she's worried as hell for her job ..one of my neighbors retired from the local post office....Trump can pound sand..the guy is a cancer on the planet..he has no fucking plan and his fake presidency is about to end...I hope he ends his life on Riker's Island in an orange jumpsuit

Oh, but once Kamala said something about Joe so, let's ignore this and talk about that instead!

Why, after writing a reply, did I get a message I do not have permission to view this thread?

I’m wondering why a ton of the stuff that’s in coronavirus bill is in there? Like a brand new FBI building. Scrap the J. Edgar Hoover building. It’s going to be something associated with Trumps name

The new postmaster that was put in charge also has a tremendous amount of stock in USPS competitors. Like UPS.

Tho I know you're posting that in an attempt to be funny, do you have any links that show that mail in voting is actualy fraught with fraud?

No, but I'd sure appreciated it if the dems don't throw monies into the stimulus package that truly don't belong there.

Don't listen to El Pres. He wears a T-Shirt that says:

    That Everybody Else
    is a
    Fucking Stupid Asshole

    *****************************************************

the USPS is a major victim of deliberate republican mismanagement and sabotage

the Service wasn't exactly running like clockwork and did have some issues; but they were muddling thru them like they had been for decades

then, in 2006, the R's, hoping to pave the way for privatization of the Service, passed a rather ridiculous law requiring the Postal Service to 'pre-fund' in excess of 50 years of projected retiree health costs. No other pension plan in America, private or public, had anywhere close to that level of pre-funding requirement. This burden, added to some other financial issues facing the service have strapped the service and moved it to the edge of failure

compounding the problem is that rates have to be approved by the Postal Regulatory Commission, a 5 member board appointed by the president. Right now, it's majority R's, and like all things in the trump era are highly political. And that 2006 act set the pre-funding requirement, also added layers of regulations (remember when R's were anti-regulation) that basically gave the commission all kinds of ways to monkey-wrench any commons sense moves by the postal service to solve financial problems:

    * "The proposed rule filed Thursday stems from a provision in the 2006 Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act, the last major postal bill Congress approved, that requires the PRC to review whether the Postal Service’s rate-setting model meets nine statutory objectives and 14 statutory factors.

During that review, the PRC found that the current USPS rate-setting system “did not meet the objectives relating to the financial health” of the Postal Service.
    " *

    https://federalnewsnetwork.com/agen...-path-for-postal-service-to-set-higher-rates/

LOL...25 statutory "objectives and factors"....yeah, that really streamlines the process

    *********************************************************

then along comes the pandemic, and along comes the most corrupt and venal president in out history, who is making no effort to hide the fact he's going to weaponize Covid and hamstring the Postal Service as much as he can to try and shut down voting in November. And the gawdamm fucking R's are just fine with that because they really don't believe in democracy at all. They only believe in power, and they will fuck over everybody they can in order to keep their grip on power. I have no doubt at all they will do everything they can to shut down or gut the Postal Service by November.

the D's aren't blameless in this. Several D congressmen wanted Congress and Obama to address this issue in 2008 when they controlled both congress and the presidency. But they apparently had bigger fish to fry and couldn't look ahead to the wave of vote-by- mail that was obviously coming

anyway, trump and the R's are deathly afraid of vote-by-mail because they know with a certainly that the more people who vote, the more the D's will win.

Well, they're not the only ones, but it makes sense to do it since we're in the middle of a corona virus issue and it's needed to boost up the post office.

People can't vote in person because of coronavirus. We therefore need mail in voting to remain safe. So, as part of the coronavirus bill, the USPS will be given aid to ensure a fair election can happen.

I'd sure appreciate Trump not trying to fix the election by having his goon control the USPS so ballots can't be delivered on time.
