If the bone is fully healed--as determined by licensed medical personnel--how much more "right" do you want him to get?
I think Oden will be back before the end of the season. All he had was a broken kneecap. That's not too serious as far as injuries go.
It's not a ruse. It was something that Greg initially said. I doubt KP ordered Greg to tell the press he wanted to get back by the end of the season.
Hey man, I went to Peter's on Saturday night for the first time. I remember you sayin that was your place!
Have you ever been here? I hear they serve up a mean plate of chicken and waffles! http://www.screendoorrestaurant.com/
Man that place kicks ass (they make a mean mint julip too). The weekends are impossible to get a seat though.
Yeah, it's not bad. I love their mushroom-swiss burger ... and I'll drink their booze too if they put it in front of me.
I don't understand why Oden coming back would mean that the team wouldn't make a move. The team would seem more likely to make a move with Oden on board, IMO, since it would mean they have a better chance in the playoffs... Ed O.
I'm not saying that Oden coming back would preclude KP from making a move. However, what I am inferring is, if KP were not to make a move (perhaps, based upon other factors, such as loving his guys too much), then he might deflect to the potential of Oden coming back as his reasoning. In other words, a slick way of saving face.
But why would Oden coming back be at all related. He would say, "We didn't feel compelled to make a move because there is/was a chance Oden is coming back"? I don't understand why that would make sense. The team can't make a move that will cover for Oden's absence. Not trying to be difficult here. I just don't understand why Oden's return would mean the team is LESS likely to make a deal. Ed O.
In fact, Oden may not make a return. However, the "potential" of that happening might actually provide KP a good excuse if he doesn't make a trade due to other factors. In other words, if KP says, "I didn't make a trade because there weren't any reasonable deals out there", some might be a bit incredulous. Conversely, if he says, "We've been anticipating the return of Greg. I felt is was in the best interest of the team and prudent to refrain from any trades in deference to his return", it "might" actually resonate with the masses.
Heh. I don't think it would save him much "face" at all. Greg likely won't be available until the middle of March (at the earliest), so it's not like his presence is going to make or break the season; Greg coming back or not mostly affects what the team will be able to do in the playoffs not getting to them.
Because a lot of people think that they are a quality big man away from making a little bit of noise. A chance for a playoff run? Not likely but you never know. What if Kobe goes down? That opens everything up in the West. The team has been competing night in/out despite getting killed in the paint. If Oden really is coming back (I don't think he is) then why trade for a big? If he isn't, perhaps a big body who can defend/rebound pushes us back in the mix? I don't agree with that philosophy, but I understand it. I just don't see any big man that is going to be available at a reasonable price. Didn't we hear Washington wanted Batum/Rudy/Expiring for Haywood? Get outta here with that.
You don't understand, because you are looking at it rationally. If KP uses this as an excuse, it won't be to smooth things over with the "smart" fans - it will be an appeal to the let-it-bake, wait-til-next-year, everything-is-sunshine-and-butterflies crowd. It is an argument geared to the fans who think the only problem the team has is a string of injuries/bad luck.
KP doesn't strike me as the type to be motivated by saving face. Just sayin'. In my opinion, I think the possibility does exist that Greg will come back this season. I think that possibility is a long shot. I think that Greg will be busting his hump trying to get back, and that if he succeeds in getting back, he'll play. I think KP says that Greg might play because he thinks that the possibility does exist. I think if KP doesn't make a trade, it's because no deal worth making was on the table.
