Yea I would probably be like 300 pounds and headed for a heart attack if I lived near that place. But at least I would die happy.
Uhmm, I don't fully trust any GM who takes part in sending threats to other GMs (read: Milesgate and Grizzlies).
Keep in mind that I'm still of the mind that the letter sent out did exactly what it was intended to do: Put the NBA on notice that if you're going to sign Miles, you'd better make danged sure you're doing it for the right reasons. Memphis may have been motivated by the possibility of screwing us, but they also gave Miles a legitimate shot at coming back.
Pfft. So why is Miles still not a Grizzly? Why isn't he playing for somebody this year? That letter did nothing to preserve the nine million in cap space he represented, and only served to put the league on notice that the Blazers management and ownership is full of bluster and hot air -- otherwise, where is the threatened lawsuit they promised for anybody that dared to sign Miles with the express purpose of harming their cap flexibility? I don't know who exactly was responsible for that letter (PA, Vulcans, or KP), but I consider it THE low point in terms of class, prudence and most of all savvy in the Pritchard regime.
Then you're wrong. The Grizzlies gave Miles a legitimate chance at making their team. He made every effort to make the team. He didn't make the team. That's a Miles failure. While I'm sure that screwing Portland was high on their list of reasons to give him that chance, they indeed had other, legitimate reasons for giving him a chance. If they didn't, there would have been a lawsuit, and we would have won that lawsuit.
He made the team last year. But they gave him no chance of making the team this year. There were stories after last season they wanted him nowhere near the team, because they were concerned about his interactions with OJ Mayo. They didn't give him an invite to camp this season. I don't believe anybody did.
