Right. $11.1 mill per. NOt bad really. And if we can get Crabbe for about $12-14 millnow? Those will be good signings in Two years.
Any of you entertaining dreams of Turner magically transforming himself into a competent deep threat are delusional. He might post a modest increase just because of the number of open looks he'll get, but if he averages more than two attempts per game something has gone terribly wrong. Odds are he's going to be put in the Nic Batum facilitator role and do his damage on drives and midrange shots and he'll be passing to Damian and CJ on the wing. Trying to camp him out in the corner is a recipe for failure. I just hope he can somehow cut down his high career turnover rate in Stotts' system.
Aminu was a career 27% 3pt shooter before coming to Portland. Turner beats that. Turner creeping up to the 35% mark wouldn't surprise me one bit.
I "love" Turner's quote about not knowing if he'd be making $12 mil or $17+ mil. I haven't read much on things, so my opinion was formed in a vacuum, but I took it as he knew he was coming to Portland but wasn't clear how much he'd be making. I very well may have misinterpreted, but it has me scratching my head like, "if we were going to get him at so much, why did we spend so much more?" I'd rather have Wessy Wes. His deal doesn't look so crazy now, does it?
after the allstar break he improved to over 50% from deep...Aminu did the same thing in Dallas before we signed him..shot really well second half of the year and even better in the playoffs.
Watching film on him this week the guy loves to finish in traffic and shoot midrange jumpers..I don't think he's ever thought of himself as a 3 pt shooter...I don't think Harkless or Aminu did either before they got here. He's here to get CJ and Dame better looks from deep. Throws what I think will be the best lob passes on the roster too...our bigs are going to love him.
Problem is with the ball in his hands he's great but off of the ball he's terrrrrrrrrible. Decent defender though. I like the player jut not the price.
You're right...reread the post and for some reason I read it with a different slant...blame it on last nights graveyard shift...I'm a bit blurry on Sundays
He's looked really good posting up guards in the playoffs. Plus he's another dude that can create his own shot or opportunities for others. Plus I think this team needs a bit of his swagger.
I was thinking about Aminu when it came to Turner. Might he improve in our system? I think the evidence has shown most players seem to get better at threes in Stotts' system. I see a lot of driving and dishing out for the three with him.
I think he can become competent. However, no one is expecting him to become Klay Thompson. I'm fine if he's defense-first and attacks the basket opening up looks for other players.
Just for the record, Turner was 5th in 6th man of the year voting... Ahead of the $20 million dollar man, Ryan Anderson. Ahead of our own Ed Davis. and Way, Way Ahead of Tristan Freaking Thompson.
