    Nick Saban refutes Texas speculation

Nick Saban, who agreed to a long-term extension Friday to remain the coach at Alabama, said Saturday that he never had any intentions of going to Texas.

Saban said his commitment has and will continue to be to Alabama and that the speculation about potentially replacing his friend, Mack Brown, at Texas was unfair to everybody involved.

"The way this sort of got spun, it was a little bit more like, 'OK, he got a new contract at Alabama, so he's going to stay at Alabama instead of going to Texas,'" Saban told ESPN.com on Saturday. "I never considered going to Texas. That wasn't even a conversation.

"I knew that if Mack stepped down, there would probably be an opportunity, but it wasn't something I was interested in doing, not at this stage in my career."

Aaron Murray 'on the right track'

When Aaron Murray says he intends to participate in Georgia's pro day before the NFL draft, consider the source.

In April, he'll be about five months removed from surgery to repair a torn left ACL when he and his fellow draft prospects take the field before a horde of scouts, coaches and front office reps. While that might seem like a quick return, this is the same player who broke his leg in a mid-October game as a high school senior, only to return for his team's final two playoff victories in a state championship run.

With that in mind, it should come as no surprise that Murray expects to be close to full health by pro day and to be at 100 percent by the time his future NFL team opens training camp.

Former USC coach Lane Kiffin is visiting Alabama this week to evaluate the Crimson Tide's offense, a source told ESPN on Monday.

Kiffin is a guest of Alabama coach Nick Saban, the source said, and will be in Tuscaloosa "to share ideas and exchange ideas and [for] professional development," the source said.

    QB Tyler Murphy leaving Florida

Junior quarterback Tyler Murphy, who started six games for the Gators this season, intends to transfer, the school confirmed on Sunday.

Murphy becomes the latest Gators player to choose to leave the program. Last Thursday, the school confirmed six players' decisions to transfer.

Under NCAA transfer rules, Murphy, who graduated on Saturday, will be eligible to play next season without sitting out a year.

    Anthony Steen has surgery

Anthony Steen's career at Alabama is likely over, as the offensive lineman is expected to miss the Allstate Sugar Bowl after having surgery to repair a torn labrum, according to CBSSports.com.

Steen, a guard, was the only senior starting on the Crimson Tide's offensive line this season as Alabama averaged 212 rushing yards per game. It also has guarded quarterback AJ McCarron to the tune of just 10 sacks, down from 23 last season.

"Anthony's played really, really well for us all year long," Tide coach Nick Saban said of Steen in mid-November. "He's been really consistent in his performance. I think that a lot of the players respect him.

"Even though he may not be a rah-rah guy in a lot of ways, I do think he has a significant impact on that group, and he has been a good leader for us on this team."

    Austyn Carta-Samuels has surgery

Vanderbilt quarterback Austyn Carta-Samuels will not play in the BBVA Compass Bowl on Jan. 4 after having surgery to repair a torn ACL in his left knee.

Coach James Franklin said Monday that Carta-Samuels tore his ACL in a win Oct. 19 over Georgia and had surgery to repair his knee shortly after the regular season ended Nov. 30.

"That guy made the ultimate commitment to his team," Franklin said.

Carta-Samuels was on crutches after getting hurt in the first half of a 31-27 upset of Georgia. He missed a loss at Texas A&M and was dressed on the sideline for the Commodores' win at Florida -- their first since 1945.

    Jadeveon Clowney ticketed again

South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney has been pulled over again for going at least 25 mph over the speed limit.

Clowney was stopped around 10:30 a.m. Thursday for going 84 mph in a 55 mph zone on Interstate 26 near Interstate 126, about five miles from the Gamecocks' campus, Columbia police said.

The traffic stop happened about an hour before the Gamecocks flew to Florida for the Jan. 1 Capital One Bowl against Wisconsin. The game will be the junior's last for the Gamecocks as he leaves school early for the NFL draft.

Mississippi State pounds Rice in Liberty Bowl

Dak Prescott delivered a performance that would have made his mother proud.

Prescott threw three touchdown passes and ran for two more scores Tuesday as Mississippi State trounced Rice 44-7 in the most one-sided AutoZone Liberty Bowl victory in the game's 55-year history. The sophomore quarterback delivered arguably the finest performance of his career less than two months after his mother, Peggy, died of cancer.

Jeremy Hill runs for 216 yards as LSU wins Outback Bowl

What Anthony Jennings lacked in experience, LSU more than compensated for with a talented supporting cast in the Outback Bowl.

Jennings made plenty of freshman mistakes Wednesday, however they weren't nearly as costly as they could have been for the 14th-ranked Tigers with Jeremy Hill rushing for 216 yards and two touchdowns in a 21-14 victory.
