LSU freshman defensive tackle Trey Lealaimatafao might not be able to play this season after he injured his arm punching through glass in the Tigers' weight room.

LSU spokesman Michael Bonnette says Lealaimatafao was hospitalized Monday to treat a deep cut to his arm. School officials have not offered further details on why the player punched through glass, the severity of the injury or the effect it could have on Lealaimatafao's career.

    Gavin Stansbury leaves Texas A&M

Texas A&M defensive lineman Gavin Stansbury has left the team to focus on what coach Kevin Sumlin calls "personal issues."

"While we will miss Gavin being a part of our program, there is more to life than football," Sumlin said in a statement. "We wish him the best as he focuses on the personal issues ahead of him."

Stansbury had been a starter on last season's Aggies' defensive front, playing in 10 games and recording 47 total tackles and three sacks. Sumlin did not elaborate on the personal matters Stansbury was addressing.

    Nick Marshall pays pot citations

Auburn quarterback Nick Marshall has paid the fines for possession of a small amount of marijuana and a window-tint violation.

Reynolds, Georgia, police chief Lonnie Holder said Thursday that Marshall's mother, Shalina Cliett, paid the $1,100 in fines. That means Marshall won't have to appear at a September court hearing.

    LSU lifts Jalen Mills' suspension

Les Miles didn't say whether Jalen Mills will miss any game time, but it's clear the junior safety has not played for the last time in an LSU uniform.

LSU's coach lifted Mills' suspension in time for Monday's first practices of the preseason and said he will handle further discipline internally.

"Those things take time and ... after an entire summer of suspension, we felt like, while this thing was still being decided, that we bring him onto the team and then continue that discipline," Miles said Monday evening.

Mills had been indefinitely suspended since June, when he was arrested for allegedly punching a woman and knocking her unconscious on May 4. Initially police said he could face a second-degree battery charge -- a felony -- but East Baton Rouge Parish district attorney Hillar Moore charged Mills with misdemeanor simple battery on Monday.

    Thomas Holley out for season

The Florida Gators will not have the chance to play one of their top recruits this fall as defensive tackle Thomas Holley will have surgery to repair a torn labrum in his hip.

Coach Will Muschamp said Monday that Holley, the nation's No. 3-rated defensive tackle prospect in the Class of 2014, will need four months to recover and will be redshirted this season.

Muschamp said Holley had a sports hernia in high school and had it repaired before he arrived at Florida. UF doctors found a labral tear.

Auburn has plan for Nick Marshall

Jeremy Johnson will be the starting quarterback when No. 6 Auburn opens the season against Arkansas on Saturday, but Tigers coach Gus Malzahn said Tuesday that Nick Marshall will definitely play.

How much? He won't say just yet.

We have a plan, and they know the plan," Malzahn said.

Malzahn had made it clear on the first day of fall camp that Marshall, who started 12 games last year, wouldn't start the opener because of a marijuana citation he received this offseason. The second-year coach, however, waited until game week to officially name Johnson the starter against the Razorbacks.

"We have a lot of confidence in [Jeremy] to run our entire offense, and like I said before, he's very talented," Malzahn said. "The two games he played last year, he was the freshman SEC offensive player of the week."
