    Will Muschamp out after season

Will Muschamp will not return as Florida's coach next season, the school announced Sunday.

Muschamp will coach the team's final two games this season, and then step down. Muschamp's buyout will work out to about $6.3 million, a source with knowledge of the terms confirmed to ESPN.com's Darren Rovell.

"I was given every opportunity to get it done here and I simply didn't win enough games -- that is the bottom line," Muschamp said in a statement. "I'm disappointed that I didn't get it done and it is my responsibility to get it done.

Dante Fowler Jr. won't be back

Florida defensive end Dante Fowler Jr., the team's best NFL prospect, says he is leaving with coach Will Muschamp.

Muschamp was fired Sunday, less than 24 hours after the team's sixth home loss in its last eight games. A 6-foot-3 junior from St. Petersburg, Fowler posted on his Twitter page Tuesday night that "I came in with champ. I'm leaving with Him. Simple as that."

The decision wasn't a surprise. Not only is Fowler considered one of the top defensive ends in college football, but he struggled Tuesday to find a scenario in which he would return to Florida next season.

    Two Volunteers accused of rape

Tennessee leading tackler A.J. Johnson is one of two players on the team accused of raping a female student at the university, according to a report released Tuesday by the Knoxville Police Department.

The 19-year-old woman, who is a student at Tennessee, told police that Johnson and cornerback Michael Willams raped her early Sunday morning at an off-campus apartment and that the attack lasted about 45 minutes. Police are continuing to investigate and no charges have been filed.

Williams also has been accused of sexual assault by a second 19-year-old woman at the same off-campus apartment, but the woman told police she did not want to press charges.

    Vanderbilt dismisses Jerron Seymour

Vanderbilt has dismissed running back Jerron Seymour for violating team rules.

School spokesman Larry Leathers confirmed the dismissal on Wednesday. The Tennessean first reported the move.

Seymour was on the depth chart released Tuesday but was not at practice Wednesday. Coach Derek Mason tells The Tennessean the fourth-year junior remains in school and is scheduled to graduate in May.

Will Muschamp: I want to coach

Will Muschamp wants to coach next season.

The Florida coach said Wednesday he would "like to obviously be working next year."

Florida parted ways with Muschamp on Sunday, less than 24 hours after the team's sixth loss in its last eight home games.

Muschamp already has been rumored for potential openings at defensive coordinator with Auburn, Florida State, South Carolina and Texas A&M. Those teams rank 63rd, 57th, 98th and 100th, respectively, in total defense.

Gamecocks coach Steve Spurrier declined comment when asked specifically whether he would hire Muschamp. But Spurrier does believe Muschamp will land somewhere.

"If he wants to coach again next year, I'm sure a lot of people will be after him," Spurrier said.

Dak Prescott, No. 4 Mississippi St. bounce back, rout Vanderbilt

Mississippi State's first touchdown on Saturday night came early in the first quarter on Dak Prescott's nifty 9-yard shovel pass to Malcolm Johnson.

It was worth six points. Maybe some style points, too.

The fourth-ranked Bulldogs had plenty of both during their easy 51-0 victory over Vanderbilt. Considering Mississippi State (10-1, 6-1 Southeastern Conference) is slotted at No. 4 in the current four-team College Football Playoff, the Bulldogs can use all the points -- style or scoreboard -- they can muster these days.

Arkansas defense forces 6 TOs, blanks Ole Miss to earn bowl eligibility

Arkansas officials lowered the goal posts in anticipation of a second straight week of onrushing fans.

The rain-soaked Razorbacks faithful stayed in the bleachers this time, though the celebration in Fayetteville was every bit as emphatic as a week ago.

Led by Rohan Gaines' 100-yard interception return for a touchdown, Arkansas' rapidly improving defense forced six turnovers in a 30-0 win over No. 8 Mississippi on Saturday.

Maty Mauk's two fourth-quarter TDs help Missouri outlast Tennessee

Missouri found a way to win on the road once again.

Now, the Tigers return home with a chance to earn their second straight trip to the Southeastern Conference championship game.

Maty Mauk threw a pair of fourth-quarter touchdown passes and Marcus Murphy ran for two scores Saturday night as Missouri defeated Tennessee 29-21 for its 10th straight road win, setting a school record.

Artis-Payne, Marshall lead No. 14 Auburn to win

Nick Marshall knows the Auburn Tigers can't afford to keep starting games sluggishly.

Not with the Iron Bowl just seven days away.

"We just came out not ready to play at the beginning of the game," the senior quarterback said. "As the game got going, we got back to playing Auburn football."

Cameron Artis-Payne ran for 129 yards and a touchdown, Marshall passed for 171 yards and a score and No. 14 Auburn snapped a two-game skid with a 31-7 victory over Samford on Saturday night.

    Texas A&M fires Mark Snyder

Texas A&M is on the hunt for a new defensive coordinator after Aggies coach Kevin Sumlin announced Friday that Mark Snyder has been relieved of his duties.

The defense struggled mightily throughout the second half of the season. The Aggies, who fell 23-17 to LSU on Thursday night, have allowed an average of 38.3 points and 502.5 yards in their final seven games.

This season, the Aggies rank 103rd nationally in yards allowed per game (449) and 111th in rushing defense (223.5 yards allowed per game). They yielded a season-high 384 rushing yards to LSU on Thursday.

Late score, turnover help No. 17 Missouri return to SEC title game

After three quarters smothered by Arkansas, Missouri found a way out. It's been that way most of the year, simply finding ways to get the job done.

"I just think it got contagious," coach Gary Pinkel said after finally emerging from a rowdy locker room celebrating the 21-14 victory Friday over Arkansas that sent the No. 17 Tigers to the SEC championship game for the second straight season.

No. 19 Ole Miss topples No. 4 Mississippi State in Egg Bowl

Mississippi's quarterback had a hurt ankle and its two top receivers were out with leg injuries.

The offensive line was mostly a mess, with players constantly shifting spots because of injuries or ineffective play.

And despite all that, the Rebels (No. 19 CFP, No. 18 AP) managed to play their best game of the season.

The unlikely duo of Jaylen Walton and Jordan Wilkins -- along with coach Hugh Freeze's deep dive into the playbook -- pushed Ole Miss to a convincing 31-17 victory over No. 4 Mississippi State on Saturday in the Egg Bowl.

Steve Spurrier says he'll be back

Steve Spurrier, who has elevated South Carolina's program to national prominence in the 10 years he's been coach, isn't ready to walk away after seeing the Gamecocks dip to 6-6 this season.

Spurrier had extensive talks Sunday with South Carolina athletic director Ray Tanner and said he's committed to pointing the program in a better direction before calling it quits on his Hall of Fame career.

"Everything's on go, and I'm full speed ahead," Spurrier told ESPN.com on Monday. "When you've done it as long as I have and have some of the disappointing losses we did this year, a lot of stuff runs through your mind. But in the long run, this is the best thing for me to do. They seem to want me here.

"Now, if they didn't want me here, it would be time to move on. But we've got a good recruiting class coming in, and it's still a really good situation."

    Jameis Winston denies allegations

Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston declined to answer questions about whether he sexually assaulted a woman two years ago, but the reigning Heisman Trophy winner did read a five-page statement during his two-day student conduct hearing that concluded on Wednesday.

Winston, who is accused of sexually assaulting a former FSU student in his off-campus apartment on Dec. 7, 2012, repeatedly declined to answer questions from Major Harding, a former Florida State Supreme Court Chief Justice who is overseeing the case, and during cross-examination by his accuser, according to people familiar with the case.
