Kelly leads No. 17 Mississippi to 73-21 win over Fresno St

Chad Kelly's brilliant passing performance provided evidence that Mississippi's quarterback race has ended.

Now the junior has the Rebels' offense on quite a roll heading into next week's Southeastern Conference showdown with Alabama.

Kelly threw for 346 yards and four touchdowns, including three of them to Quincy Adeboyejo, to lead No. 17 Ole Miss over Fresno State 73-21 on Saturday.

Leonard Fournette goes for 3 TDs to help LSU fend off Mississippi State

Leonard Fournette burst through the left side of the line, squared his 230-pound body downfield and sprinted toward the end zone on his way to a 26-yard touchdown.

It was one of many moments on Saturday night when LSU's hulking sophomore running back looked nearly impossible to tackle.

The Tigers needed every single yard -- and touchdown -- he could give them.

Fournette's career-high 159 yards rushing and three touchdowns led No. 14 LSU past No. 25 Mississippi State 21-19 in a bruising Southeastern Conference opener for both teams at Davis Wade Stadium.

Kyle Allen totals 5 touchdowns in Texas A&M win

Texas A&M was already looking ahead to Arkansas just minutes after wrapping up nonconference play Saturday with another convincing victory.

Kyle Allen threw four touchdown passes and ran for another score as the No. 17 Aggies pulled away to beat Nevada 44-27.

Leonard Fournette powers LSU with career-high 228 yards, 3 TDs

The jarring impact of LSU running backLeonard Fournette's shoulder with crumpling Auburn defensive backBlake Countess blew the top off of sold-out Tiger Stadium -- and more than likely resonated with Heisman Trophy voters.

And if that 40-yard touchdown run wasn't eye-catching enough, Fournette added a 29-yard score in which safety Tray Matthews tried to tackle the running back high, only to be sent tumbling, heels-over-head, toward the sideline.

The 6-foot-1, 230-pound Fournette finished that play with a finesse move that buckled the knees of safety Nick Ruffin, and No. 13 LSU was well on its way to a 45-21 victory over 18th-ranked Auburn on Saturday.

Big plays buoy No. 15 Mississippi in road upset of No. 2 Alabama

With a desperation fling and an array of big plays, Chad Kelly and No. 15 Mississippi ended a quarter-century of futility at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Kelly completed a deflected 66-yard touchdown pass and added two more long ones in the fourth quarter, and the Rebels held on to beat No. 2 Alabama 43-37 on Saturday night.

Lambert, Chubb lead No. 7 Georgia to 52-20 rout of SCarolina

Greyson Lambert was so good, coach Mark Richt couldn't resist having a little fun.

Lambert set an NCAA record by completing all but one of his 25 passes Saturday night, throwing for 330 yards and three touchdowns to lead No. 7 Georgia to a 52-20 rout of South Carolina.

Chubb scores 3 TDs as No. 7 Georgia beats Southern

Nick Chubb knew he had to extend his streak of 100-yard rushing games when he saw how much it meant to his offensive linemen.

The big guys can relax. Chubb's streak is alive.

Chubb ran for 131 yards and two touchdowns and also caught a TD pass as No. 7 Georgia beat Southern 48-6 on Saturday to gain momentum for next week's visit from Alabama.

No. 3 Mississippi beats Vanderbilt 27-16

Mississippi's offense didn't look anything like the group that had thrown up touchdowns with stunning ease through the first three weeks of the season.

There were interceptions. Fumbles. Missed opportunities. Costly penalties.

No. 3 Ole Miss still managed to find a way to win on Saturday night, pushing past feisty Vanderbilt 27-16 thanks to a terrific defense and one timely blocked punt.

Towles throws 2 TDs as Kentucky upsets No. 25 Missouri 21-13

Patrick Towles used the same right arm that threw two touchdown passes against No. 25 Missouri to exhort Kentucky fans to cheer and celebrate as the final seconds ticked off of the Wildcats' biggest win in recent memory.

Teammates joined the party with a small yet diligent group of fans that kept looking up at the scoreboard to take in Saturday night's 21-13 victory that spoke volumes about their resolve just a week after a disappointing loss to Florida.

No. 14 Texas A&M rallies to beat Arkansas in OT after missed field goal

Texas A&M quarterback Kyle Allen has already developed quite a connection with true freshman receiver Christian Kirk.

And Myles Garrett came up with another big defensive play for the No. 14 Aggies, even though they still needed overtime again to beat Arkansas.

Allen threw for 358 yards and two touchdowns to Kirk, the second a 20-yarder in overtime as Texas A&M won 28-21 in the SEC opener Saturday night in the home of one of the Razorbacks' most notable alums.

LSU's Leonard Fournette first in SEC to have 3 straight 200-yard rushing games

LSU's Leonard Fournette sounded more inclined to criticize his own leadership skills than take credit for a feat unmatched by any of the great Southeastern Conference running backs who came before him.

Fournette highlighted his third straight 200-yard game with a 75-yard touchdown run, and No. 9 LSU overcame a fitful performance to beatEastern Michigan 44-22 on Saturday night.

Steve Spurrier explains abrupt resignation from South Carolina

The college football world was lit up last night with a bombshell that Steve Spurrier would be retiring as the head coach of South Carolina, effective immediately. On Tuesday, Spurrier spoke to the media to explain his resignation — not retirment — as best as he could.

Fake field goal, Leonard Fournette's 2 TDs carry LSU over Florida

Perhaps someone at Florida should have reminded first-year coach Jim McElwain about Les Miles' propensity to gamble against the Gators.

Leonard Fournette ran for 180 yards and two touchdowns, Miles victimized Florida with a fake field goal for the second time in five years, and the No. 6 Tigers beat the No. 8 Gators 35-28 on Saturday night.

Harris' career-high yardage helps No. 5 LSU top WKU 48-20

Even in miserable, soggy conditions, LSU quarterback Brandon Harris had enough grip, zip and accuracy to make a defense pay for selling out to stop star running back Leonard Fournette.

Harris passed for a career-high 286 yards, with two of his three scoring passes going for more than 50 yards, and No. 5 LSU used a strong second half to pull away from Western Kentucky, 48-20 on Saturday night.
