Texas A&M regent thinks Kevin Sumlin should be fired

Texas A&M's epic collapse against UCLA was the final straw for one Aggies regent. He wants Kevin Sumlin fired.

Houston attorney Tony Buzbee offered his thoughts on Facebook on Sunday night after Texas A&M blew a 34-point lead to lose 45-44 in Los Angeles. He wrote:

Guice scores twice, No. 12 LSU pounds Chattanooga 45-10

LSU coach Ed Orgeron didn't hesitate to utter the words "concerned," or "unacceptable," after the 12th-ranked Tigers' latest lopsided victory.

He's been in major college football long enough to know that penalties, untimely execution errors and an anemic kicking game can spell doom in big games, even if they've been inconsequential so far.

Derrius Guice ran for 102 yards and two touchdowns, D.J. Charkreturned a punt 65 yards for a score, and LSU overcame bouts of sloppiness in a 45-10 victory over Chattanooga on Saturday night.

Georgia defense contains Notre Dame in teams' first regular-season meeting

Georgia got to Dawg Walk out of Notre Dame Stadium with a victory, dozens of its fans forming a line from the locker room to the buses to congratulate the Bulldogs after the program's first trip to this part of the country in more than 50 years.

Lorenzo Carter and Davin Bellamy led a swarming Georgia defense and the No. 15 Bulldogs got enough plays from an offense starting a freshman quarterback to beat No. 24 Notre Dame 20-19 on Saturday night.

Why Georgia's freshman QB wasn't fazed in his first college start at Notre Dame

One night last week, after Georgia announced that freshman quarterback Jake Fromm would make his first start at Notre Dame, Lee Fromm picked up her cellphone and called her son. Their conversation went a lot like the ones parents have with their children who are away at college for the first time.

"Just do what we've been doing the last five years," Lee Fromm told him. "Make sure you're getting enough sleep, make sure you're eating well and make sure you're focusing on your job."

"Mom, I got this," Jake told her.

Mississippi State routs No. 12 LSU 37-7

Mississippi State's football series against LSU dates to 1896 and includes a whole bunch of heartbreak.

That wasn't the case Saturday night. In fact, the Bulldogs had one long party at the Tigers' expense.

Nick Fitzgerald threw two touchdown passes and ran for two more scores to help Mississippi State rout No. 12 LSU 37-7 in a Southeastern Conference stunner. It was the largest margin of victory for the Bulldogs in the 111-game series.

Chubb impresses as No. 13 Georgia rolls past Samford, 42-14

A disappointing end to the first half left Georgia coach Kirby Smart feeling deflated, so he challenged his offense to put the game away.

Nick Chubb and the Bulldogs came through in a big way.

Chubb ran for 131 yards and two touchdowns, freshman Jake Frommthrew three scoring passes in his first home start, and No. 13 Georgia gained momentum for its SEC schedule with its 42-14 victory over Samford on Saturday night.

No. 15 Auburn overcomes 5 turnovers to beat Mercer 24-10

Auburn turned in another ugly offensive performance.

This time, the No. 15 Tigers couldn't pin it on their opponent.

In an inexcusable display of sloppiness, Auburn turned the ball over five times -- four fumbles and an interception -- but still managed to win only because it was going against an overmatched opponent. A 24-10 victory over FCS school Mercer on Saturday provided little reason to believe that coach Gus Malzahn's team is ready to challenge Alabama's dominance in the Southeastern Conference.

Gators' 63-yard Hail Mary caps wild, sloppy victory over Volunteers

Tyrie Cleveland was one of the last players to leave Florida Field. He slapped hands, posed for pictures, and just before disappearing into the locker room tunnel, he turned and waved one final time.

He easily could have taken a bow.

Cleveland hauled in a 63-yard touchdown pass from Feleipe Franks as time expired, and No. 24 Florida stunned 23rd-ranked Tennessee 26-20 in a wild, wacky and sometimes unwatchable rivalry game Saturday.

No. 20 Florida rallies past Kentucky 28-27 to extend streak

Florida's Hail Mary win over Tennessee apparently was just a teaser of how the No. 20 Gators respond to adversity.

Case in point was their latest comeback from the brink against Kentucky, a gut check that put them in a familiar place in the Southeastern Conference.

Freddie Swain caught a 5-yard touchdown pass from backup quarterback Luke Del Rio with 43 seconds remaining to cap Florida's rally from 13 points down in the fourth quarter to beat Kentucky 28-27 on Saturday night.

No. 25 LSU holds on for 35-26 win over Syracuse

LSU quarterback Danny Etling was resilient enough to absorb a pounding from Syracuse's pass rush, as well as a possible blow to his ego.

Etling responded to a barrage of bruising blitzes with touchdown passes of 87 and 43 yards, D.J. Chark added a game-clinching 20-yard scoring run in the final minutes, and No. 25 LSU held off the Orange 35-26 on Saturday night.

There would be no frantic finishes or dramatic comebacks in the latest edition of the Georgia-Tennessee rivalry.

The seventh-ranked Bulldogs made sure of it.

Jake Fromm threw a touchdown pass and ran for two more scores Saturday as No. 7 Georgia rolled to a 41-0 blowout of Tennessee. The Volunteers were shut out for the first time since 1994 and suffered their most one-sided home loss since 1905.

Big plays power No. 13 Auburn over No. 24 Miss State 49-10

Kerryon Johnson sprinted 59 yards on the game's third play, and Auburn kept dropping an avalanche of big gains on Mississippi State.

Jarrett Stidham passed for 264 yards and two touchdowns, and Johnson ran for three scores to lead the 13th-ranked Tigers to a 49-10 victory over 24th-ranked Mississippi State on Saturday night.
