Booed early, Florida QB Feleipe Franks leads Gators past Gamecocks

Feleipe Franks placed his index finger across his lips after both touchdown runs, sending a message to a home crowd that booed him earlier.

After the second one, there was nothing Franks could have done to silence the Florida faithful.

Franks accounted for three touchdowns, including the go-ahead score with a little more than four minutes remaining, and the 15th-ranked Gators rallied to beat South Carolina 35-31 Saturday and end a two-game losing streak.

Defense helps No. 20 Kentucky outlast Middle Tennessee 34-23

Mike Edwards' early takeaways helped stake Kentucky to its initial lead. Linebacker Josh Allen then made sure the 20th-ranked Wildcats held on with clutch sacks late.

Seniors are expected to stand out in their home finales, and veterans certainly factored in a tenser-than-expected victory against Middle Tennessee.

Edwards' two turnovers led to Kentucky's first two touchdowns, and the Wildcats overcame a second-half lull to make several fourth-quarter defensive stops and escape with a 34-23 win on Saturday.

Freshmen Fields, Cook power No. 5 Georgia past UMass, 66-27

Georgia's playmakers feasted as if lined up at an all-you-can-eat buffet.

No worries. There was plenty of offense for everyone.

Freshman Justin Fields threw two scoring passes and ran for another touchdown, Tyler Simmons had rushing and receiving scores, and No. 5 Georgia protected its playoff hopes by overwhelming UMass 66-27 on Saturday in one of the biggest offensive games in school history.

Fitzgerald leads No. 25 Mississippi St past Arkansas 52-6

Nick Fitzgerald barreled through a defender during the fourth quarter, crashing face-first into the ground before trotting to the sideline while removing a huge clump of grass and mud from his helmet.

Two plays later, he was back on the field. And the quarterback's 19-yard pass to Austin Williams was a fitting way to end his time playing football at Davis Wade Stadium.

Fitzgerald threw four touchdown passes and ran for another score to lead No. 25 Mississippi State over Arkansas 52-6 on Saturday. In his final home game, the 6-foot-5, 230-pound Fitzgerald had one more big performance in a career full of them.

Burrow, No. 10 LSU open up offense in 42-10 win over Rice

When Joe Burrow found freshman receiver Ja'Marr Chase deep down the left sideline to the Rice 2, it marked the LSU's quarterback's 11th completion of 15 or more yards.

And that was before five minutes had elapsed in the third quarter.

Burrow passed for a career-high 307 yards and two touchdowns in less than three quarters, and No. 10 LSU rolled to a 42-10 victory over struggling Rice on Saturday night.

No. 22 Mississippi State beats Mississippi 35-3 in Egg Bowl

Nick Fitzgerald's previous Egg Bowl included a career-altering injury and a crushing loss on his home field.

One year later, Mississippi State's senior quarterback earned redemption.

Fitzgerald ran for two touchdowns and threw for another score to lead No. 22 Mississippi State over Mississippi 35-3 on Thursday night in a rivalry game marred by a fight that led to four ejections in the second half.

No. 11 LSU knocks off No. 7 UCF 40-32 in Fiesta Bowl

Joe Burrow watched the ball land in an opposing player's hands and immediately gave chase. Locked in on preventing a pick six, LSU's quarterback didn't see Joey Connors, Central Florida's 313-pound defensive lineman, bearing down on him.

With a thunderous, blindside collision , Burrow found himself flat on his back, woozy and wondering what happened.

Minutes later, after being helped to his feet, Burrow was back on the field, hitting receivers all over the field.

The nation's longest winning streak was over. So was a second self-proclaimed national championship.

The LSU Tigers were Fiesta Bowl champions, thanks to their gritty junior quarterback.

Burrow shook off the big early hit to throw for 394 yards and four touchdowns, helping No. 11 LSU end No. 7 UCF's 25-game winning streak with a 40-32 victory in the Fiesta Bowl on Tuesday.

A Tennessee appeals court has upheld most of the convictions against a former Vanderbilt football player in the rape of an unconscious female student.

News outlets report that the 17-year sentence for 26-year-old Brandon Vandenburg was unchanged Thursday in Nashville. He was sentenced in 2016 for the dorm room sexual assault in which three other former football players were also charged.

Former Terps QB Hill transferring to Tennessee

Former Maryland starting quarterback Kasim Hill is transferring to Tennessee, a Volunteers spokesperson confirmed Thursday to ESPN.

Hill, who started 10 games for Maryland in 2018 before he sustained his second ACL tear in as many seasons, will sit out the 2019 season. He will have at least two seasons of eligibility left and possibly three. Hill tore the ACL in his left knee in 2018 after tearing the ACL in his right knee in the third game of the 2017 season, a Terrapins win at Texas.
