NCAA places Miss. State on 3 years probation

Mississippi State's football and men's basketball teams have been placed on three years probation after an investigation concluded that a tutor committed academic misconduct in aiding 10 members of the football team and one basketball player in an online general chemistry course during the fall semester of the 2018-19 school year.

The NCAA and Mississippi State found that the part-time tutor, a student who has been disassociated from the university and been given a 10-year show-cause order, had "completed multiple assignments, exams and, in some instances, nearly the entire course for student-athletes."

Inconsistent Franks, No. 8 Florida rally to beat Miami 24-20

Feleipe Franks was clutch one minute and confused the next, showing the kind of inconsistency that got him benched five times in two years.

His job might be in jeopardy again if not for Florida's defense.

Franks made up for three inexcusable turnovers by accounting for three touchdowns, doing just enough to help the eighth-ranked Gators beat rival Miami 24-20 Saturday night in a wild and wacky opening game of the college football season.

Tennessee Volunteers football player arrested after incident with woman on campus
    [IMG]

A Tennessee Volunteers defensive back was arrested Saturday after getting into an argument with a woman at a campus dorm, officials said.

Bryce Thompson, a sophomore, was charged with misdemeanor domestic assault and was jailed, according to the Knoxville News Sentinel. The incident occurred at Stokely Hall at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, the newspaper reported, citing court documents.

Witnesses told police that Thompson told the woman he would “slap” her. Witnesses also told police they heard Thompson threaten to “shoot up the school,” the Knoxville News Sentinel reported, citing an arrest warrant.

Mond accounts for 4 TDs at No. 12 A&M routs Texas St. 41-7

With Texas A&M's date against No. 1 Clemson looming next week, it would have been easy for the Aggies to take 33 1/2-point underdog Texas State lightly.

After the 12th-ranked Aggies easily handled the Bobcats, coach Jimbo Fisher said he never worried about his team looking past its first opponent.

"I'm telling you there was no looking at Clemson, doing anything with Clemson and that's a fact," he said. "We've learned that. We're not going to do that ... you've got to learn to play the game at hand and I thought they did that."

Kellen Mond threw three touchdown passes and ran for another score in just more than three quarters, and Texas A&M had four interceptions in the 41-7 rout.

Fresh win: Nix rallies No. 16 Auburn 27-21 over No. 11 Ducks

Bo always knows at Auburn, even a true freshman quarterback by that name.

After barely converting a fourth down with a gutsy run in the final minute, Bo Nix threw a 26-yard touchdown pass to Seth Williams with 9 seconds remaining as the 16th-ranked Tigers rallied for a 27-21 win over No. 11 Oregon on Saturday night.
