Well a lot of us are having trouble rooting for the team given they are NOT trading him, so I don't know how it all comes out in the end.
I've never had trouble rooting for the team except for the Raymond Felton Luke Babbitt Caleb Kanales season....if they trade Dame it would be hard for me to support it. But hey...some folks don't have that approach and that's all well and good. I did completely lose interest in the tank team with Elleby starting but I don't like tanking so that was inevitable. In my almost 45 years of following the team we finally have a franchise player that's not broken....our Tim Duncan..and I like that and want to enjoy this era for the next decade..I hope Dame ends up buying the team. As for fans who have trouble rooting for the team...that happens every season with any losing streak over 2 games long around here...4 game loss...forget about it. Most people got everything they wanted this season....Olshey, Stotts, CJ Roco gone......that was a huge dartboard for a long time from what I remember.....then folks worry Dame will leave and when he shows complete loyalty...they want to trade him.....hard for me to understand really but I don't need to understand it. It's all good
fair enough....I think with Dame you have a great chance of winning ...if you have good defenders and size around him.
“Start over” being the key words because we would be playing the lottery game for the coming years while getting mobbed by GS.
Would we? Why? per 36, Kuminga is averaging 20/7 and shoots .336 from 3 as a 19 year old SF Poole is averaging 18/3/4 while shooting .364 from 3 as a 22 year old If anything that team would be good for years. Maybe not great, but we aren’t great now
I think Kuminga will be a beast eventually but his shot is super slow and he really benefits from the gravity for Steph and Klay. Poole is super fun to watch but his ceiling is probably a faster McCollum, I doubt he's ever the best player on a good team. Both of those guys are really defensively challenged right now. Draymond has his super high moments but his body is breaking down and he just refuses to shoot, even in the key; I'd love to ship him out now. I didn't watch much of portland this year but unless Dame has just fallen off a cliff, theres no way I'd trade him for those 3 if I were you. I'd probably try to swap Draymond for Wiggins and Moody- that kid is a smart player. Doubt he becomes an all star but I bet he's a quality starting 3 for a lot of years. From a GS fan perspective, I don't want to make that deal but lots of warrior fans seem determined to trade away all the youth for a vet. I'm glad the front office hasn't gone that way but I worry that a finals loss will be the push they need to make a big splashy trade like that.
The team stinks. They are striving to get into the playoffs... and that's the best-case scenario. Keeping Dame means we will be giving away more assets that could be useful in the future to try to "win now". Heck, yes. Keeping Lillard is a hard pill for me to swallow as a Blazers fan.
please tell me a realistic trade you think the Blazers could get done for Dame....a trade that would not leave them in an even more 'hopeless' situation than they are now
I think we'd be better off by trading Dame for almost anything. As long as they're not the kind of trades Cronin has made so far. We are going to be bad-to-mediocre, and we are going to keep scrambling to try to get better... sacrificing chunks of our future like we did with the Nance trade and the RoCo trade. Then we'll finally dump Dame when he has lower value (because he's old, he's injured, and/or he wants out after not winning in Portland) and we'll have to unload whatever decent players we have (presumably who won't be cheap, since we'll have traded the picks that would have led to rookie scale value players) and we'll have to do what we did this past trade deadline. We should take advantage of the fact that we JUST WENT THROUGH the pain of moving good, if slightly overpaid, guys for nothing and move Dame now (or soon) while he has value.
you should take a long break then because Cronin is going to be the one making Blazer trades for the next couple of years
