A&M beats Vanderbilt, wins at least a share of SEC title

Texas A&M can claim something it hasn't been able to in 30 years: a regular-season conference championship.

"I'm just at a loss for words," senior Jalen Jones said following the No. 20 Aggies' 76-67 victory over Vanderbilt in the regular-season finale.

No. 17 Texas A&M Aggies trounce LSU 71-38 in SEC Tournament

The 17th-ranked Texas A&M Aggies will play for their first conference tournament title since 1987, just not in the way they expected.

Their latest win was much too easy.

Tonny Trocha-Morales scored 13 points as Texas A&M trounced LSU and freshman star Ben Simmons 71-38 on Saturday to reach the Aggies' first conference tournament championship game since 1994.

Backcourt helps No. 2 Kentucky run away from Canisius, 93-69

Isaiah Briscoe expected all those NBA workouts focused on improving his game to pay off with efforts like this.

Judging from how newcomer De'Aaron Fox shook off a rough start, Briscoe picked up some leadership pointers as well.

Briscoe and Fox each scored a career-high 21 points, Malik Monk added 16 and No. 2 Kentucky pulled away from Canisius early in the second half for a 93-69 victory Sunday night.

No. 2 Kentucky beats No. 13 Michigan State 69-48

One of the Kentucky freshmen stepped up big from the outside while the rest of the Wildcats took care of things with defense.

Malik Monk's 23 points on 7-for-11 shooting from 3-point range and the second-ranked Wildcats' defense that held No. 13 Michigan State to 32.8 percent shooting combined for a 69-48 victory Tuesday night in the State Farm Champions Classic at Madison Square Garden.

No. 2 Kentucky has no trouble with Duquesne in 93-59 rout

Pleased as Kentucky coach John Calipari was by last week's performance on the national stage, he seemed more encouraged by the second-ranked Wildcats' encore that figures to raise their profile even more.

De'Aaron Fox scored 16 points, Malik Monk added 14 and Kentucky took a step toward the nation's top ranking by rolling past Duquesne 93-59 on Sunday night.

No. 1 Kentucky runs away quickly from Cleveland State 101-70

As top-ranked Kentucky develops in small steps, the on-court relationship between Malik Monk and De'Aaron is clearly off and running.

Monk scored 23 points and Fox had 16 points and 11 assists to propel the Wildcats to a 101-70 rout of Cleveland State on Wednesday that was impressive on several fronts.

Thornwell, Gamecocks use defense to beat No. 18 Syracuse

South Carolina coach Frank Martin savored his team's victory over No. 25 Michigan and then went straight to the videotape.

While his team enjoyed a flight to New York, Martin watched film of his last game at Kansas State -- a loss to Syracuse in the 2012 NCAA Tournament. He discovered everything his former team did wrong against the Orange's zone defense and vowed the Gamecocks would not repeat those miscues.

They didn't and sprinkled in some dominating defense.

Sindarius Thornwell scored 16 points as South Carolina had enough offense to go along with its defense and never trailed in its 64-50 victory over No. 18 Syracuse on Saturday in the Brooklyn Hoops Holiday Invitational at Barclays Center.

Dozier's 21 lead No. 20 South Carolina to 68-50 win

PJ Dozier came to South Carolina last season as coach Frank Martin's first McDonald's All-America recruit. Things, however, did not go Dozier's way.

    Just look at him now.

Dozier had a career-high 21 points to lead the 20th-ranked Gamecocks to a 68-50 victory over Vermont and a 7-0 start for the second consecutive year.

The 6-foot-6 sophomore topped his previous best performance of 17 points in a season-opening win over Louisiana Tech. Two games later, it was Dozier who hit the game-winning shot in a 70-69 victory over Monmouth.

No. 6 Kentucky regroups with 87-63 rout of Valparaiso

Kentucky's mistake-filled start quickly gave way to the energetic effort the sixth-ranked Wildcats acknowledged was missing against UCLA. And their intensity soon put things out of reach for Valparaiso.

Bam Adebayo scored 16 points, Malik Monk added 15 and scored 21 straight points in a first-half run to beat the Crusaders 87-63 on Wednesday night.
