No. 18 Vols trounce Ole Miss 94-61 for 5th straight win

Tennessee coach Rick Barnes usually finds some reason to criticize his team's performance even after lopsided wins.

    Not this time.

Grant Williams and Lamonte' Turner scored 17 points each to lead five Tennessee players in double figures Saturday night as the 18th-ranked Volunteers trounced Mississippi 94-61 for their fifth straight victory

Alabama dominates No. 23 Florida in paint, wins 68-50

Alabama coach Avery Johnson had a "conversation" at halftime with his team, a "great talk" about reducing turnovers and making better decisions.

His message was loud and clear. It was well-received, too.

Collin Sexton scored 17 points, Donta Hall notched his fourth double-double of the season, and Alabama rallied from a 10-point deficit to thump No. 23 Florida 68-50 Saturday.

No. 15 Tennessee edges No. 24 Kentucky 61-59

Eager to atone for mistakes he believed allowed Kentucky to stay close, Tennessee guard Lamonte Turner delivered a pressure jumper that gave the No. 15 Volunteers something rare -- a victory in Rupp Arena.

Turner scored 16 points, including a clutch 3-pointer with 26 seconds remaining, Admiral Schofield followed with an insurance dunk off a turnover and the Volunteers edged No. 24 Kentucky 61-59 on Tuesday night for its sixth consecutive victory.

Alabama races to 78-50 win over streaking No. 15 Tennessee

Alabama big man Donta Hall started the game with a dunk, and did the same to open the second half.

It was that kind of night for both No. 15 Tennessee and the Crimson Tide.

Hall had 17 points and 11 rebounds and Collin Sexton scored 16 points to lead Alabama to a 78-50 victory Saturday night over the Volunteers, putting a big chill on the Southeastern Conference's hottest team.

Starks has 17 points, Texas A&M beats No. 24 Kentucky 85-74

Texas A&M's players traded encouraging words a few weeks ago, out of necessity.

"We were just letting each other know it's not over," A&M forward Robert Williams said of what was beginning to look like a lost season.

They've since proven it's certainly not, after the Aggies won their fourth consecutive Southeastern Conference game on Saturday night to climb back to .500 against league opponents.

Freshman point guard T.J. Starks scored 17 points and A&M toppled No. 24 Kentucky 85-74 on Saturday night in a sold-out and raucous Reed Arena.

    Missouri edges No. 21 Texas A&M 62-58

Missouri held an 11-point lead with 5:39 remaining against No. 21 Texas A&M. Then came the press, which has caused Missouri problems recently.

The Aggies trimmed the lead to one within three minutes, and stole an inbound pass down two with 14 seconds left. Texas A&M's Robert Williams missed a put-back layup and the Tigers escaped 62-58 Tuesday night.

Williams helps No. 18 Tennessee outlast South Carolina 70-67

South Carolina coach Frank Martin couldn't help but see the similarities between the team he faced Tuesday and the Final Four squad he coached last season.

"(Tennessee) reminds me a lot of my team last year, just a team that's tied at the hip and relentless on both ends of the floor," Martin said after the Gamecocks lost 70-67 to the 18th-ranked Volunteers.

Brown, Harper lead No. 10 Auburn past Kentucky, 76-66

No. 10 Auburn remains on the path toward a potential Southeastern Conference title and Kentucky is still mired in a slump.

It has more commonly been the other way around.

Bryce Brown returned from a shoulder injury to score 18 points and make four 3-pointers in leading the Tigers to a 76-66 victory over the struggling Wildcats on Wednesday night.

South Carolina holds on to upset No. 10 Auburn, 84-75

No. 10 Auburn's path toward closing out a stellar season in the Southeastern Conference just got tougher.

The Tigers found out shortly after their stunning, 84-75 loss to South Carolina on Saturday that starter Anfernee McLemore was lost for the season after a horrific injury late in the first half.

Barford leads dominant Arkansas past No. 21 Texas A&M, 94-75

Daniel Gafford capped off the most difficult stretch of his young Southeastern Conference career with a disappointing and foul-plagued performance the last time Arkansas faced Texas A&M.

The standout Razorbacks forward remembered that game all too well, and it showed as he added yet another dominating effort to his remarkable freshman season on Saturday.

Gafford scored 18 points on 7-of-8 shooting to lead Arkansas (19-8, 8-6 SEC) to its fourth straight win, 94-75 over the No. 21 Aggies. It was the fifth straight game in double figures for Gafford, who is shooting 70.7 percent (29 of 41) since the 80-66 loss to Texas A&M on Jan. 30.

Yante Maten leads Georgia to upset of No. 18 Tennessee

Tennessee coach Rick Barnes says the homestretch of the regular season is a time to either improve or lose ground.

Barnes said Georgia is improving. He wasn't as generous in his appraisal of his Volunteers.

Yante Maten scored 19 points and Georgia held off No. 18 Tennessee for a 73-62 victory Saturday night that denied the Volunteers an opportunity to pull within a game of the SEC lead.

Williams helps No. 19 Tennessee beat Florida 62-57

Grant Williams bounced back from one of his worst performances of the season and helped 19th-ranked Tennessee damage Florida's NCAA Tournament hopes.

Williams scored 23 points and Tennessee beat Florida 62-57 on Wednesday night to hand the Gators their third consecutive loss. Williams' big night came four nights after he had a season-low five points in a 73-62 loss at Georgia.
