No. 25 Mississippi St cruises past Alcorn St 88-65

There's little question that Lamar Peters has the floor vision and defensive ability to be one of the best point guards in the Southeastern Conference this season.

If his shot starts falling like it did on Monday night, the ceiling might be even higher.

Peters and Nick Weatherspoon both scored 17 points, freshman Reggie Perry added 16 points and 11 rebounds and No. 25 Mississippi State cruised past Alcorn State for an 88-65 victory.

No. 10 Kentucky easily handles Monmouth 90-44

Coach John Calipari had few complaints about No. 10 Kentucky's domination of Monmouth.

The Wildcats not only shot well, they did so from long range for a change. Calipari was even more pleased by his team's defensive performance in its most complete victory this season.

Tyler Herro scored 16 points, Keldon Johnson added 15 and Kentucky cruised past Monmouth 90-44 on Wednesday night for its sixth straight victory.

No. 6 Tennessee rolls to 95-67 victory over Eastern Kentucky

Tennessee's Yves Pons felt no jitters as he showcased his athleticism in his first career start.

With the sixth-ranked Volunteers attempting to bounce back from their first loss of the season, coach Rick Barnes sought an energy boost by having Pons replace Jordan Bowden in the lineup.

The sophomore swingman from France responded with a career-high 10 points and several highlight-worthy plays in a 95-67 blowout of Eastern Kentucky.

No. 25 Mississippi State rallies for 65-58 win over Dayton

Mississippi State coach Ben Howland extended his hand to Dayton's Anthony Grant and borrowed a line from the end of the first "Rocky" movie -- no, he doesn't want a rematch.

That's how the night went for the 25th-ranked Bulldogs.

Nick Weatherspoon hit a pair of 3-pointers in the closing minutes, and Mississippi State trailed most of the game before rallying to a 65-58 victory over Dayton on Friday night.

No. 10 Kentucky rallies past UNC Greensboro 78-61

Seeing Keldon Johnson elevating for thunderous dunks and big rebounds almost made it easy to forget the Kentucky guard had limped to the locker room after rolling his left ankle in the first half.

The pain he felt on every landing reminded Johnson of what happened, but otherwise it wasn't a factor as he rallied the No. 10 Wildcats past UNC Greensboro.

"It's all in the flow of the game," he said. "You just have to keep fighting and not show any weakness."

Reid Travis scored 22 points, and Johnson added six of his 13 points during a 14-2 second-half run that helped the Wildcats beat the Spartans 78-61 on Saturday for their seventh consecutive victory.

No. 22 Mississippi State beats McNeese State 90-77

Lamar Peters knows how to distribute the ball to his teammates. He's also smart enough -- and getting good enough -- to know when he should just keep it and let the 3-pointers fly.

The junior point guard scored a career-high 27 points to lead No. 22 Mississippi State over McNeese State 90-77 on Tuesday night. Peters finished 9 of 16 from the field, including 8 for 13 from 3-point range.

No. 22 Mississippi State tops Clemson 81-62 in New Jersey

Mississippi State planted the seeds for its school record of 19 made 3-pointers with some hard work over the summer.

"Our guys, I'm telling you right now, I've never had a team collectively work harder at shooting than our guys did this last offseason," coach Ben Howland said.

Lamar Peters scored 28 points and was 8 of 11 from beyond the arc, leading No. 22 Mississippi State to a wire-to-wire 82-71 win over Clemson in the Never Forget Tribute Classic on Saturday.

Admiral Schofield's 3 sends No. 7 Tennessee past No. 1 Gonzaga

Tennessee lost the reigning SEC player of the year down the stretch against the nation's top-ranked team.

The Vols still had the Admiral to lead them.

Admiral Schofield hit a 3-pointer with 24 seconds left and scored 25 of his 30 points in the second half, helping No. 7 Tennessee knock off top-ranked Gonzaga 76-73 in the Colangelo Classic on Sunday.

Schofield scores 29, No. 3 Tennessee beats Memphis 102-92

Admiral Schofield popped his Tennessee jersey to the Memphis fans who had been screaming at him throughout the game.

The rivalry between Tennessee's top basketball programs is back on, and the Volunteers have the upper hand for now.

Schofield scored 20 of his 29 points in the second half and added 11 rebounds as third-ranked Tennessee beat Memphis 102-92 Saturday to snap a three-game skid to the in-state rival.

No. 8 Auburn outlasts UAB 75-71 in overtime

Auburn and UAB aren't annual rivals on the hardwood. The energy inside Legacy Arena as a fight-to-the-finish matchup ensued said otherwise.

Jared Harper scored 23 of Auburn's last 30 points and finished with 31 to help the No. 8 Tigers outlast UAB 75-71 in overtime Saturday night in the Mike Slive Invitational.
