Hopkins helps No. 6 Kentucky rally, then survive LSU 71-66

Having seen his fellow Kentucky reserves shine when given the opportunity prepared Bryce Hopkins for his chance to make a difference.

Hopkins came off the bench to score a career-high 13 points, including 11 to fuel Kentucky's 15-2 second-half surge, and Oscar Tshiebwe and Keion Brooks Jr. made late free throws to help the No. 6 Wildcats survive LSU 71-66 on Wednesday night.

Kessler, No. 3 Auburn rebound for 77-64 win over Mississippi

Walker Kessler didn't quite get another triple-double, but Auburn's Wendell Green Jr. and Zep Jasper finally started hitting their own triples.

Kessler had 12 points, 10 rebounds and eight blocked shots while the point guard duo broke out of offensive slumps to lead the third-ranked Tigers to a 77-64 victory Wednesday night over Mississippi.

Vescovi, Zeigler lead No. 17 Tennessee over No. 3 Auburn

It had been 27 games since Brandon Huntley-Hatfield made a 3-pointer. Since then, he had missed eight attempts.

The 6-foot-10 freshman for No. 17 Tennessee was an unlikely hero Saturday when he connected early in the second half as the Volunteers trailed by 11 points. His shot ignited a 17-2 run that was instrumental in a 67-62 victory over No. 3 Auburn.

James has career-high 23 points, No. 13 Vols beat Georgia

If No. 13 Tennessee is considered a big favorite in an early-round NCAA Tournament game this month, John Fulkerson hopes the Vols remember their shaky first half against lowly Georgia.

Josiah-Jordan James scored a career-high 23 points, including back-to-back 3-pointers that gave Tennessee the lead early in the second half, and the Vols overcame a slow start to beat the struggling Bulldogs 75-68 on Tuesday night.

Tshiebwe shines again, No. 7 Kentucky beats Florida 71-63

When Florida scored the first five points of the second half, Kentucky coach John Calipari immediately called timeout. He had one message for his seventh-ranked Wildcats: Throw Oscar Tshiebwe the ball.

They listened better than even Calipari could have imagined.

Tshiebwe finished with 27 points and 15 rebounds — his 13th consecutive double-double and 25th of the season — and Kentucky beat Florida 71-63 on Saturday to secure the No. 3 seed in next week's Southeastern Conference Tournament.

No. 5 Auburn tops South Carolina 82-71 to win SEC outright

The Auburn Tigers got to celebrate a solo Southeastern Conference title with a flood of orange and blue confetti and no thoughts of tiebreakers.

A team led by newcomers is hoping for more March celebrations.

Freshman Jabari Smith scored 21 points, transfer K.D. Johnson had 18 and No. 5 Auburn won the championship outright with an 82-71 victory over South Carolina on Saturday.

Zeigler, No. 13 Tennessee hold off No. 14 Arkansas

The first half, No. 13 Tennessee looked totally prepared for the SEC Tournament and beyond. After that, things got more precarious.

Freshman guard Zakai Zeigler, whose family was left homeless by a fire in New York City last weekend, made two key free throws in the final seconds to help the Volunteers hold off No. 14 Arkansas 78-74 Saturday.

Missouri Tigers fire men's basketball coach Cuonzo Martin after five seasons

Missouri fired men's basketball coach Cuonzo Martin after five seasons, the school announced Friday, in a move that drew criticism from several of his colleagues throughout college basketball.

Martin took over the Tigers in 2017 after three seasons at California, with Missouri hiring him to replace Kim Anderson. The Tigers reached the NCAA tournament in Martin's first season and then went to the tournament again in 2021, but they failed to advance out of the first round in each.

No. 5 Kentucky tops Vanderbilt again, 77-71 in SEC tourney

TyTy Washington hasn't played like this in nearly two months. He hasn't needed to, either.

After taking a backseat to standout forward Oscar Tshiebwe late in the regular season, Washington stepped into the spotlight Friday night and put Kentucky on the verge of a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Washington scored 25 points, Tshiebwe tied a half-century-old school record and the fifth-ranked Wildcats beat Vanderbilt for the third time in two months, 77-71 in the quarterfinals of the Southeastern Conference Tournament.

Surging Texas A&M stuns No. 4 Auburn 67-62 in SEC tourney

Texas A&M isn't done reviving its season after an arduous, month-long tailspin threatened its chances of earning a spot in the NCAA Tournament.

The Aggies improved to 7-1 since an eight-game skid, bolstering their case to get at least an at-large berth with a 67-62 victory over fourth-ranked Auburn in the quarterfinals of the Southeastern Conference Tournament on Friday.

No. 9 Tennessee rolls over Mississippi State 72-59 in SEC

Tennessee feels it has everything it takes to be successful in the NCAA Tournament.

That includes unselfish players, balanced scoring and a deep bench.

Josiah-Jordan James led five players in double figures with 16 points, 14 of them during a second-half stretch in which the ninth-ranked Volunteers pulled away to a 72-59 victory over Mississippi State in the quarterfinals of the Southeastern Conference Tournament on Friday night.
