    Florida dismisses Damontre Harris

Forward Damontre Harris has been dismissed by Florida without ever playing a game, the school announced on Saturday.

The 6-foot-10 junior sat out last season after transferring from South Carolina and missed the first 10 games of the 2013-14 season because of a suspension for violating team rules.

Last week, coach Billy Donovan said of Harris to reporters, "I don't ever anticipate him playing here at Florida."

Harrison twins lead Kentucky over Louisville

Kentucky coach John Calipari was so focused on coaching his team that he barely noticed star forward Julius Randle was on the bench being treated for cramps.

Fortunately for the Wildcats, guards Andrew Harrison and Aaron Harrison knew he wasn't there and their work in offsetting his absence proved crucial in overcoming No. 6 Louisville.

The identical twin freshmen combined for 28 points, including 11 during a critical second-half stretch with Randle sidelined, helping the 18th-ranked Wildcats earn a 73-66 victory on Saturday.

Mizzou rallies to earn road win at NC State

Missouri coach Frank Haith learned how his 25th-ranked Tigers would respond both to a loss and to a hostile road environment Saturday night.

Jabari Brown hit the go-ahead 3-pointer with 55.1 seconds left to help Missouri beat North Carolina State 68-64, rallying from 10 down in the second half to win in its first true road game of the year.

Pat Young tops 1,000 points as No. 13 Florida wins

Although Pat Young wasn't keeping count, everyone around him was.

    Even coach Billy Donovan.

Young scored 15 points, becoming the 50th player in school history to reach 1,000 in his career, and No. 13 Florida handled Savannah State 76-34 on Sunday.

Jabari Brown's late 3 seals Missouri's win over Long Beach State

Jabari Brown had one of his best overall offensive games. No. 25 Missouri's defense stepped up, too.

Brown scored 22 points in 39 minutes and hit a key 3-pointer late in a 69-59 victory over pesky Long Beach State on Saturday. The 49ers shot just 27 percent and were outrebounded 24-11 in the second half.

No. 10 Florida beats South Carolina 74-58

Scottie Wilbekin grimaced in pain as he got helped off the court.

Coach Billy Donovan had a similar expression on his face -- but not just because of his starting point guard's injury.

Wilbekin scored 17 points before spraining his right ankle and No. 10 Florida opened Southeastern Conference play with a 74-58 victory over South Carolina on Wednesday night.

No. 14 Kentucky beats Mississippi State 85-63

Practicing twice a day since Kentucky last played on Dec. 28 figured to yield some benefits for James Young and the Wildcats.

Young scored 15 of his 26 points before halftime, and No. 14 Kentucky used hot shooting to rally from a halftime deficit and beat the Bulldogs 85-63 on Wednesday night.

Bulldogs reward coach Mark Fox with emotional upset win over Mizzou

A day after attending a memorial service for his father in Garden City, Kan., Mark Fox called the shots in an upset that ended the nation's longest home winning streak.

Georgia's coach said the late Raymond Lewis Fox, a longtime high school coach in Kansas, wouldn't have had it any other way. Fox thought his dad would have been proud, but also would have wondered why it got past regulation.

"He wouldn't have patted me on the back. Hell no," Fox said after Georgia's 70-64 upset in overtime at No. 21 Missouri in a Southeastern Conference opener on Wednesday. "He'd have told me to get the next one."

No. 10 Florida ends Arkansas' home win streak in OT

Dorian Finney-Smith and Scottie Wilbekin weren't about to let a little thing like injuries get in the way for Florida.

The banged-up Gators, playing without leading scorer Casey Prather, overcame a host of ailments and earned an 84-82 overtime win at Arkansas on Saturday.

No. 7 Florida tops Georgia, sets home-winning mark

Breaking the school record for consecutive home wins should be something to celebrate.

Not for No. 7 Florida, which has fallen one step short of the Final Four the last three years.

Michael Frazier II scored a career-high 21 points and the Gators handled Georgia 72-50 on Tuesday night, notching their 25th straight at the O'Connell Center.

Michael Qualls has a history of poster-worthy dunks in his two seasons at Arkansas.

His latest might just become a thing of legend all around the state.

    Tyrone Johnson out indefinitely

South Carolina point guard Tyrone Johnson, the team's leading scorer, will be out indefinitely with a fractured right foot that will require surgery.

Johnson suffered the injury in Wednesday night's 75-67 loss at Texas A&M when he stepped on an official's foot in the first half. Johnson was re-examined when the team returned to South Carolina.

Casey Prather returns to help No. 7 Florida survive scare at Auburn

Billy Donovan cautioned his Florida Gators before the game not to assume Casey Prather would instantly return to form after a two-game layoff.

Prather scored 16 of his 21 points in the first half in his comeback from a badly bruised right knee and helped No. 7 Florida survive a scare from Auburn in a 68-61 victory on Saturday. Donovan's warning proved unnecessary.

Kentucky hits 23 of 24 free throw attempts to top Tennessee

Andrew Harrison's only focus was making the most of the opportunities that became more frequent against Tennessee.

The Kentucky freshman point guard definitely did that at the free throw line en route to delivering a career performance.

Harrison scored a season-high 26 points and No. 13 Kentucky used near-perfect free throw shooting to pull away to a 74-66 victory Saturday.

Alex Poythress' season-high 16 lead Kentucky past Texas A&M

Alex Poythress is more focused on helping Kentucky finish games strong no matter how he's used, and the sophomore reserve forward emphatically proved it against Texas A&M.

Poythress scored a season-high 16 points as No. 14 Kentucky routed the Aggies 68-51 on Tuesday night.

No. 6 Gators hold off Alabama, up winning streak to 10 games

No. 6 Florida was limping into halftime of a close game when Michael Frazier II nailed a 3-pointer and a foul shot.

Frazier's back-to-back 3s later gave the Gators a double-digit cushion midway through the second half of Thursday night's 68-62 win over Alabama. He finished with 18 points and five 3-pointers, including those timely long-range shots.
