nah....no secrets here.....when the neighbors are fighting, close the window and crank the stereo.....as I've stated....my favorite posters around here keep it light..and most have stopped posting much...this happened on the last forum and I fear it's creeping in here...I argue with Denny and Marz in OT about politics all the time but like my hoops uncluttered with angst...I'm going to go find jlprk....he's somewhere in Bellingham

Man a while ago I saw a picture of Portland. You know you guys are my home away from home, never been to your city and really started following the team and the sport but you and your city mean a lot to me, I hope someday I'd get to visit

God damn, I'm almost gonna peace out with HCP. The senseless bickering and arguing about people's feelings getting hurt is fucking annoying. This is a basketball forum, not the real housewives of Portland. Man the fuck up guys! The dog days of summer is really getting to a lot of you and the constant arguing and he said she said bullshit is running off some really quality long time posters.

I'm going to make sure to pick up a large box of diapers for y'all.

It's a discussion forum. Arguments are inevitable. People disagree. Egos come into play. Grudges.... bad feelings.... but also I think it's because this community is small, there are only so many people participating, and there isn't enough other people to square off with. It's like a large family that sees each other often and people hold onto arguments. One cousin fighting with another cousin because he stole his girl 10 years ago.

But I think the decline in users is from the slow decay of this medium. Young people don't use forums anymore. They use facebook and snapchat and Reddit. I find that most of the people who post on Reddit are younger. Most of the people on this forum are older. It would be interesting to do a poll to get an idea of age demographics.

I also think there's a distinction between people that view this forum and people that participate. During the season we could have 100+ people viewing a thread, but how many actually post? 10? 20? Why do you think that is?

Message boards/forums will be the AOL chat rooms of the early 2000's-2020's. Tho they lasted a lot longer than those cesspools did.

Idk man, there's a decent number of people in their twenties on here that has joined in the last few years. Do you really want teenagers posting on this place anyway?

But you can't really have decent discussion on facebook or twitter. I find this medium way more appealing. FB/Twitter to get the news (and quickly react with like a comment) and forum to discuss the news

Reddit is pretty bad with group think too due to that upvote/downvote system that hides the downvoted posts that commits wrongthink.

Can we just go back to talking about melo? I am of the opinion that the longer this process draws out the more likely the Blazers are to convince him to come to Portland. Just gotta wear him down and eventually he will accept that Portland is a better situation than the NYK and he will waive his NTC.

I'm not sure that decent discussions are what most people want these days. They want to make, and read, quick-hitting observations, not write or read long analytical posts.

HELL NO! Let's see what Mo thinks!

    Grabs defibrillator again

Moe Harkless talks about having his name included in Carmelo Anthony trade rumors

Born, bred and college-educated in Queens, Moe Harkless has firm roots in Knicks territory, an upward-trending NBA career and is now part of the never-ending Carmelo Anthony trade cycle.

Still, as the Trail Blazers forward explained to the Daily News on Saturday, he doesn’t concern himself with the persistent rumors that he’s included in trade proposals to the Knicks. There’s no benefit.

“It doesn’t do anything for me to get involved with that,” he said. “If it happens, it happens.”

Instead, Harkless is spending this weekend back home directing his inaugural “Skills Academy” camp at the Boys & Girls Club of Metro Queens, a program the St. John’s product is co-hosting with management agency Gotham Hoops. On the final day of camp Sunday, Harkless will give away school supplies to the 64 student-athletes in attendance — many of whom serve as a reminder to the 24-year-old about his own upbringing in South Jamaica.

“I wanted to make sure I had the camp here,” Harkless said. “I was just like the kids in the camp.”

For now, Harkless’ NBA team couldn’t be further away than Portland, a solid six-hour plane ride from LGA to PDX where he’s found stability in his career. From a trade dump in Orlando to starting on a playoff team with the Blazers, Harkless averaged over 10 points last season on 50 percent shooting while demonstrating improved 3-point range.

This was after he fell out of the rotation on a terrible team in Orlando.

“In Orlando we were kind of rebuilding. Coach (Jacque Vaughn) got fired and everything like that,” Harkless said. “In Portland, the system was already in place and the organization is run really well. So I’m in a comfortable situation for me.”

The improvement is also why he’s been part of trade proposals involving Carmelo Anthony, according to sources, both in straight swap talks and three-team negotiations where Anthony would end up in Houston. In both instances, Harkless goes to New York.

Just entering his prime on a friendly contract (three years and about $31 million remaining), Harkless is an enticing option who also plays Anthony’s position. However, any path to a deal is ripe with hurdles — starting with Anthony’s resistance to waiving his no-trade clause for Portland, and the Trail Blazers’ reluctance to be involved as a third team to send Anthony to Houston.

The Blazers backcourt of Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum have been actively and publicly recruiting Anthony, which could be awkward if it means they’re pining for Harkless’ replacement. But apparently there are no hard feelings — Harkless said he planned on working out with McCollum this weekend in NYC.

McCollum, coincidentally, was spotted training with Carmelo last week in Manhattan.

Despite his rough time in Orlando, Harkless said he developed a strong relationship with the Magic’s former assistant GM Scott Perry — who was recently introduced as the Knicks GM.

After three seasons in Orlando, the Magic dealt Harkless for a protected second-round pick.

“(Perry and I) had a really good relationship. We still have a good relationship. We actually spoke not too long ago. We talk all the time,” Harkless said. “He’s a real down-to-Earth guy, a real dude. He doesn’t really sugar coat stuff. So I think that’s why players take a liking to him.”
