Yeah--he would basically need 5 more injury-free 25ppg seasons after this one to end up in Melo's neighborhood.

More interesting to me is whether or not Lebron catches Kareem. Only 3500 away. Assuming he plays 2 more (relatively healthy) years after this one, he should be a lock.

That countdown will easily be the biggest story of the 22-23 season.

Most impressive on this list to me is Oscar Robertson. 6’5’, no three point line, almost 27,000 points. Crazy.

he did it in 14 seasons after entering the league when he was 22. And he did that while averaging 9.5 assists a game

take a look at 2020 Comparisons to say, La Marcus Aldridge - if Carmelo is “washed up” then I’d say 20% of the league must be. Shoot, last night Melo goes for 23 with a few rebounds, assists and even 3 blocked shots! I don’t call this “washed up” I call Melo pretty damn good.

I will admit that he shoots 75% of the time he touches the ball, but he scores. Previously I was saying we need to start Melo, but I see his value off the bench.

Yeah, he scores. At a 38% clip. Good for 11th on the team

    points/FGA:

    Dame - 1.484
    Kanter - 1.397
    CJ - 1.335
    Blazer team - 1.238 (1.26 last season)
    Jones - 1.234
    Nurkic - 1.146
    Trent - 1.143
    Simons - 1.13
    Melo - 1.127
    Giles - 1.038
    RoCo - 1.00
    Hood - 0.882

    Little - 1.55
    Elleby - 1.44

Melo isn't the worst shooting option on the team, but he's well below the team average. Melo is only in the 50th percentile in isolation scoring/efficiency. Unfortunately, he's only in the 30th percentile in spot-up, and 18th percentile in PnR. So he's a pick-your-poison shooting option

Wonder where Carmelo lives here in oregon. Not often they get a guy who has made $250M over a long career. Where does someone like that go? He’s not here for the long haul, doubt he’s buying a house. Maybe just in a hotel or condo? Anyway. Just a random Carmelo thought.

And fools on here would STILL find reasons to hate him! Ha! Even if he did it in a jersey with a pinwheel on it!

But also in an era where the average pace was over 121. The average this year is just under 100. An extra 20+ possessions per game can go a long way.

yeah, that's true...and I saw enough BB from when I was young to know that defense wasn't really emphasized unless it was Wilt or Russell or Thurmond swatting away shots

another factor: Oscar averaged 42.2 minutes a game so he was on the floor for around 18 of those 20 extra possessions. In assists alone that was probably worth 1-2 more a game

of course, no stat is as insane as Wilt averaging 50.4 points in 48.5 minutes his 3rd season. Another amazing Wilt stat: is in his last 3 seasons, when he was 34-36, he played in 290 consecutive games (regular and playoff) and averaged over 44 minutes

Can you imagine what LeBron would have averaged back in Wilt's day. When SF looked like this.

What were you doing spying on Melo during a BBQ? I know that is your photo handiwork. We can all spot it a blurry mile away.

Tolliver/Mario/Bazemore/Nas.......NONE of them get the calls and respect Melo gets, from other players and the refs. He didn't deserve that call when he fell down at the end of the game, but got the whistle. DAME WANTS HIM ON THE FLOOR WITH HIM STRUGGLES AND ALL, NO MATTER HOW MUCH HE IS HATED ON IN HERE.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
I don't disagree that Melo is deeply, heavily overrated while Tolliver/Mario/Bazemore/Nas are not.

That's cool. But I wouldn't want Dame as the team's GM, so I'm not sure his talent evaluation chops are beyond question.

Melo is our best option in a tight game does the stretch to have out there. Unfortunately or fortunately depending on how you look at it.
