The UFC is revamping their PED program [live updates]

DFW on baseball and PEDs.

DFW would like to see other MMA orgs and Boxing orgs step up and support stricter testing.

 

On a side note, I wonder how big of a smile GSP has on his face right now. He has to feel vindicated.

The UFC is hoping for a minimum of a two year suspension. The UFC will more likely than not strip any champion that tests positive if they are suspended for two years.

 

Lorenzo is really pushing a two year ban as the penalty for a first offense.

 

Well they are saying all the right things. Shame that it took the downfall of a legend to spur this change.

It makes sense. As Schaub said, if you only fight every six or so months, a 9-12 month suspension isn't a killer. Two years, though, is something to be feared.

 

DFW backtracked and stated he never said the UFC shouldn't be doing the drug testing.

 

They canceled OOC testing earlier this year. I posted it on the site. We all saw it.

 

I think Lorenzo needs a PED test, himself.

 

He's 5'4" tall and 5'4" wide.

 

If I had to guess I'd say he's hopeful/skeptical. Let's see the UFC make good on it's promises first.

The UFC said all of the right things. Now lets see if they stick to it. I support stiffer fines and a 2 year initial ban. I think any champion who tests positive should be stripped of his title and suspended.

I hope the NSAC supports WADA. It is time to clean this sport up. Like speeds said, its a shame it took the downfall of a legend to spark this. If you can not complete naturally, then GTFO.

 

Champs already get stripped for positive tests, see Tim Sylvia, Sean Sherk. A two-year ban of a champ would be resounding. Hopefully it starts with Spider.

 

A four-year ban for a first time offender seems harsh but I think it would just about eradicate PEDs in the UFC. Some guys might risk two years but not four.

 

Could you imagine if Rousey, Conor, or JJ popped for PED's and banned for four years?
